Nice paving … very neat 😀

I was out all weekend (with Greg and Si, hi fellas) who were on a TD training weekend. We covered some fairly high mileage. I was riding my Inbred and carrying plenty of gear so the whole thing was pretty heavy. We also had tremendous headwinds much of the time, it also rained. The amazing thing is, regardless of what I’ve just said … we all had a great time, which is what it’s all about.

No one will have a better or worse time just because their stove is 4g lighter than someone elses 😉

EDIT: And I get page 9 … how good’s that?

I’m not sure about that, given the competitive aspect of this game 😉

Think there should be a set of scales at the start and heaviest bike wins a spot prize. 😀

    don’t say that.

    optimus crux 93g

    I’ve been weighing coffee options.

1 sachet of Starbucks Via is 2g

1 Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference Colombian Filter coffee bag is 12g

I reckon I’ll need about 6 cups of coffee, plus a couple of spares, means a massive 80g saving by taking Starbucks Via! Plus it’s less faff than the coffee bags and tastes pretty good for the convenience.

Erm, the weigh your bike game at the wrt … you fancy being in charge of it Flatfish?

I have just calculated the body I intend to use for the WRT is 3 stone heavier than it needs to be. Bugger!

I think my coke can stove will more than compensate though.

Not even attempting to weigh any of the kit, carrying what i need to have an enjoyable time, irrelevent of the weight.. More interested in having a couple of good days out riding the bike and eating wherever the tent gets pitched.. Just hope the weather is good..

The kit faffage is half the fun 🙂

Nick, pump carried by riding partener 😉

Out of curiosity, I have just weighed one of my socks at 19.3912 grams. Perhaps it is time to go home.

I’m undecided as to whether I should take the roll of roofing lead, might need it to waterproof the ridgeline on my tarp.

    That’s it!

I’m taking nowt and riding naked 😯

@molgrips my bar bag was fine once I mounted it on properly thankyou for your concern 😉

Has anyone seen this tent/shelter option, using an inner tube instead of poles, what a brilliant idea. here

    stills8tannorm

Pistonbroke I’ve seen ’em but wouldn’t fancy a sunny afternoon in one let alone a rainy, windy night. Have a search for Nemo tents, they use air rather than poles and are very good.

On another note, if you were sorting out a pre-ride food stop there is a cafe in Llanbrynmair at Machinations.

    @Pete … I can’t wait 😉

    There’s a chance I might win that contest…

    valleydaddy

with a weight contest perhaps the lightest rider/kit combo should be made to carry a weight penalty so we all carry the same weight be it kit or body mass.

    Fair for everyone then 😉

Anthony, no issue this end 🙂 But how many seats does your bike have as you have a underseat bag and a saddle bag?
    What food are you taking?

maps not taking, a few prints of memory map will do, maybe on waterproof paper, if rain is likely.
Take a file to the Optimus crux and you’ll get 10g off it, the block is over engineered.
Gps is looking like Suunto X10 which is wrist mounted
Haglofs pants will be swapped for OMM Kamleika if wet.
If weather forecast is really warm i’ll go with a Mont Bell Down Hugger UL #6 and save some weight.

Is any one taking a trowel for burying their number 2? I’m undecided yet.

Why would you want to bury your riding partner, this event is getting weird 8)

B&Q do nice small plastic trowels, don’t weigh much.

You should bury your poo – responsible riding demands it.

No. If you pick your spot, you don’t need to a trowel.

I once had to poo under a medium sized stone in the peak district. In the wide open, with no cover at all. It was not pleasant, I had to replace the stone and squish my turd into the ground.

Can everyone please use white loo roll too … it breaks down much quicker than coloured stuff, ta.

DNFatal, I’ve yet to make myself a revelate style seat bag so I have to rely on my big Topeak saddle pouch, with another stuff sack strapped underneath it! Well spotted. Hats off to your kit collection, I’m suprised your not using one of the lighter TN tents though?

I have just done my food list, its not pretty! I’m hoping to be self sufficient so I’m running at about 1kg per day even using 200g Expedition main meals.

’tis one of my luxury items, which is stretching the use of the term luxury – it may yet stay at home.
