Great thread! This is the last thing that had me stop what I was doing and turn up the radio.

Then, as soon as it finished, google it to hear it again. But louder, with headphones. Quite a few times!

Repetitive, yes; Marmite, I’m sure. But it’s just so startlingly weird. Hypnotic.

Now going to listen to everyone else’s!

And not so recently, more like 23 years ago: The first song that really blew my socks off – affected me physically, goosebumps, chills, quickening pulse, the lot.

I was just about to post this by the same:

It should be crap: synthpop with 70s crooner style club singing but I cant stop listening to it

+1 I Feel Love. The start of everything that’s still interesting musically. Put the guitars down, it’s all been done.

This once blew my socks/head/everything off and reduced a grown man to tears:

    MMM – Nous Sommes

To do it full justice you need really to download it in a lossless format and play it very loudly on an expensive hifi while under the influence. The ending is superb.

Yeah..as others have said these threads are an ace method of finding music out of our “Comfort Zone” of regulars.

Heres another few, that on first hearing stopped me dead in my tracks,

Jon Hopkins – Open Eye Signal

I won’t post the vids but if you like that then check out the following two Jon Hopkins tracks,

    Jon Hopkins – Collider

Jon Hopkins – Breath This Air feat Purity Ring

Saw Jon back in february at the Art School/Glasgow – stunning show with full video effects.

    And finally….

    Nils Frahm – Says

One of my fav albums this year for sure

Choppersquad, click the share link, then email, copy the email link, then click the video box above the text box on here, delete any text in the dialogue box, paste the copied text into it, click OK, et voila!
I’ve got the mini-album it came from, but RadMac played this track today, which brought it to mind:

Ed Harcourt, Come Into My Dreamworld
Lovely spooky backing, with the Theremin, sounds like Ed fronting Portishead.

    Cracking choice sweepy,

Gilles Peterson had Kate Tempest on his 6music show previous to last saturday, it’s no longer on iplayer but a a live track from Kate is available here – she’s really something to see live and in full flow.

Check out Kate Tempest – Brand New Ancients part 1 & 2 if you haven’t already.

Christian Löffler +1, I don’t often agree with the reviews on Resident Advisor but a 4/5 was due for Young Alaska.

The Sonic Youth version of Superstar is amazing the complete antithesis of the Carpenters version, I have also been listening to Drunken Angel by Lucinda Williams which paints a very vivid picture

Abba super trouper. My first ever 7″ purchase. I reckon it’d be impossible for that to blow your socks off. The sandals you wear over them would hold them firmly in place ;O)

There’s some great stuff on here. Perhaps we should launch a few STW collaborative playlists?

Skálmöld & Sinfóníuhljómsveit Íslands – Kvaðning

Very reminiscent of Metallica’s S & M with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra. From that album, my favourite tune is this:

I’m always disappointed at the end, I want it to go on and on getting louder and more intense until my ears explode…

Also, Love Bites by Halestorm. Starts off well – fast rock/metal-ish, with a female vocalist… all good so far. But then the chorus at 35s has you worried it’s all going to go a bit Avril Lavigne… but fear not. At 1:45 it goes just a little bit batshit mental, but in an awesome way that sends a shiver down my spine every time I hear it.

This is apparently a couple of years old but I’ve only just heard it:

And an awesome cover of Bad Company, by Five Finger Death Punch

I pretty much have these on loop at the moment 🙂
