Looking for some sunglasses that I can wear on and off bike, budget about £50-£60. No weird shapes, not visors, no weird lens colours. Seems like the hardest thing to find for some reason…

    Thanks

I don’t like spending too much on glasses as I tend to lose them (my last pair fell off the top of my head into a river) but like something decent

I find Bloc tend to fit the bill. Good quality stuff that doesn’t cost a fortune. Plenty of designs for on and off the bike

Have a look at Sungod. You can pretty much pick and choose what you want.

I have the renegades, nice glasses.

get polarising lenses if using for driving. Or actually, anything, get polarising lenses.

I stumbled on these via a bit of a spammy looking Facebook advert but had good reviews,  really can’t fault them for the money. great quality and lots of styles/colours to choose from. Permanent buy one get one free offer so have a bunch of free the Wayfarer style – good for the car/riding in etc.

I’ve liked the Sunwise Hastings photochromic glasses I’ve been using for something like 4 or 5 years now, especially on the road and TT bike (frameless so a bit more view up the road on the TT bike than with framed glasses).

Tifosi have been my choice recently. Lots of styles and usually available somewhere at a discount.

I picked up some DHB Umbra in the CRC closing sale, they are comfy and the tint is light enough for use on the bike (I’ve ridden in the woods).

I only mention as there are a number of them on eBay for £15 or so from people who must have snapped them up for £5.

Well worth the higher price IMO

    Try here

    https://www.rgeyewear.com/Shop-By-Brand/Bloc/ (for Bloc)

I have the Wrapz cos cheaper and I lose/break them. Just as good as having a sheep on the arm I mean an O on the arm 😛

Polarised and photochromic for under £20?! NO, I must pay over One Hundred Pounds!

I’ve got half a dozen pairs of Carnac ones that I bought when they were a tenner each. The surface coating isn’t very resistant to scratching, which is fine if you are paying a tenner.

Not sure that I’d want to pay triple that.

Well priced so you don’t mind too much when you inevitably lose them! 🙂

    Hiya,

Another SunGod fan. Good value and lifetime guarantee. I broke a pair and they replaced, no quibble.

Don’t really meet the brief 😉

I’ve been considering some Sun God Renegades for a while and never hit the button – is it worth the extra for polarised, or even more so, the 8KO Polarised?

I got some bloc reglazed with funky coloured prescription lenses but I bought them in Cotswolds and was surprised by the range available. Go try some on?

I have the Sun God Renegades in 8KO flavour for almost 18 months now and have been really pleased with them.  They fit nicely and are light to wear while the polarized lens reduces glare and also just seems to sharpen everything up a little.  They’ve coped well with super bright sunshine in Cancun as well as good old Blighty when its beaming.  Haven’t worn them on the bike as already have a pair of cheap and cheerful riding glasses I’m happy with but would seriously consider them as a replacement.

    Happy to recommend.

I have a pair of Sungod tempests in polarised format. Slightly less stylish looking than the renegades but grippier nose and ear pieces. Optical clarity is great and the polarised lenses really cut out glare. I’d definitely get polarised again if I was replacing them.

With that said, I have a cheaper pair (Madison Crypto I think) for riding as they always get scuffed and bashed around where I ride. I like that they came with three lenses which means I can ride with clear lenses in winter/at night or (generally) the pink lenses for mtbing in the woods.

I’ve lost two pairs of Melon Alleycats in the last eight months or so.

I’d really strongly recommend them if you’re not an idiot.

Does nobody else find they can’t see their phone/ipad screen through polarised lenses?
makes them useless to me in a few situations like driving if I need sat nav.

    Yep.

The most recent shades I bought, I specifically ordered WITHOUT polarising.

Oakley half jackets cost about half what they did 20 years ago, top quality and a design that can’t be improved.

Hearing about a huge screw up with new VW/Audi/Skoda’s, the horrible tablet thing in the middle of the dash stops working. Also affects the new ford Tourneo connect with is a rebadged VW caddy
