I’m looking at changing from X01 to XTR 11 speed.

Has anyone un XTR shifters / mech with a SRAM X01 cassette, chain and crank (with Raceface narrow/wide)

From what I’ve read a few people have tried it and it seems to work but I’m after STW users experience.

One thing was that some XTR mechs suit a 40T max cog where as my SRAM is a 10-42. Does this depend on the cage length?

In my opinion, this would be a mistake. The X01 shifter/derailleur combo works much better than the Shimano equivalent. You really have to push those paddles on the M9000, and the release feels like very metallic and clunky.

    But yes, it will work.

I’m finding that I just can’t drop onto the 10T sprocket – I’ve tried all sorts – looking at the price of a new mech, which is the last thing I can think of trying, it’s around £150.

It’s always struggled a bit and I thought for that sort of money I could get the M9000 XTR mech and shifter and that might perform a bit better?

Worst case, I’m thinking you could add a washer under the derailleur mount to move it a bit outboard, assuming this is actually the issue.

    Hmmmmm…very interesting

Also, make sure the hanger is normal, as opposed to Shimano-specific direct mount. Details in this older thread. Although that would explain not being able to make it work on the largest, not the smallest sprocket.

I’m finding that my X01 won’t shift onto the smallest cog (despite it doing it for 18 months previously). I’m tempted to ditch and go for XTdi2 1×11 instead.

Personal innit. I much prefer my XTR shifters/mech to the XX1 they replaced.

To that end OP – I find it works faultlessly. XX1 cassette and chain, XTR mech and shifter.

Running XX1 cassetter with XTR Mech/Shifter on one bike, and GX cassette with XTmech /XTR shifter on the other, both work fine.

Your mech refusing to go in the 10t sounds liek it could be a bent/misaligned hanger, assuming setup is correct

    Didn’t work for me

Have Shimano 11 speed on one bike and Sram on another, have successfully used the wheels including the cassette on each bike with not issues at all. So yes it works!

GX cassette and xt mech/shifter. Flawless

Actually think that setup works more smoothly than the xx1/xtr equivalent I have on the other bike.
