Spoke & wheelbuilding supplies / shout out to Cyclebasket

We don’t mention the good experiences we have with bike shops often enough.

Been my go-to for personal wheelbuilding supplies for a while. My experience last week reminded me why.

Placed a big order one lunchtime. Later that evening I realised I’d forgotten to include a small number of spokes. Called up next morning, asked if a second order could be added into my first to avoid double postage. Martin spent his time reopening my already-packed first order, removed/trimmed some of the packaging to get the weight down below the already-paid for postage weight, and stuck my second order inside. All completed in the 30mins he had between me calling and his packages being collected at 10.00am.

It’d have been much easier for him to say “sorry no can do, your orders already packed and postage booked and being collected in half an hour”, but he went the extra mile.

Plus also ACI DB spokes are fantastic and good price. I miss the old (older) skool website though.

Same here, always recommend them and their ACI double butted if anyone asks a wheel building related question.

Built loads of wheels using ACI DB and never had a problem, always supplied from CycleBasket, can’t recommend highly enough 🙂

Good for a visit but don’t expect a modern shop. Best to check if anyone is in despite opening times.

Thanks for the heads up. Ordering spokes tonight so thought I’d give them a shot. I normally use Sapim Race from Spa Cycles or the Cycle Clinic – but they seems to have been getting more expensive…or I’m getting tighter!

They have the dreaded….”message before ordering if you live in the mainland bit of the mainland that is actually on the mainland but some delivery companies like this pretend is not on the mainland but in a far off land across a sea of monsters”….so we’ll see if they land on the naughty step or become my new spoke provider of choice!
