Sombrio clothing sizing?

How is the sizing on Sombrio clothing – in particular their shorts? Do they usually come a up a bit smaller or larger? I’m normally a 38″ waist with hefty thighs and as the guy who fitted my kilt said “rather large across the seat” so wondering if their gear would fit.

I have found the shorts to come in slightly different between models of the same size.
I have one pair of 2011 sombrio lowline and one pair of 2011 sombrio charger shorts, both in medium which according to the size guide i found in the paligap directory should be a good fit for me with my waist of 33″. The lowline are perfect and a great short but the charger are a lot tighter around the waist, not too far from the point of not being able to wear them.
They are great shorts though and the jerseys are impressive too and different as well. I would recommend going for the bigger size if your borderline two sizes.

My experience is that their sizing is a bit inconsistent with shorts and trousers. My experience is also that although there is a lot to love about their clothing they can’t for the life of them make a fastening that stays attached to the garment. Pocket linings automatically unstitch themselves too.

As a direct comparison I’d say the shorts come in quite a bit smaller than the equivalent Endura. They tend to be a lot more fitted as well. Bloody great kit though

It depends on the intended use, the freeride stuff is very baggy, the plainer trail stuff is more fitted.

I really like the design and the stretch fabrics are very comfortable, but the last 2 pairs of shorts and 2 pairs of gloves I have bought have all fallen apart. I might try the Mavic stuff and see if it is better made.
