Did anyone watch it last night? I happened across it and really enjoyed it – I love how he can explain things in a way that makes sense to normal people, and appears to be having the time of his life doing it. Great stuff.

I started watching something else and forgot about it, but it’s easy enough to download it, which I’ll do a bit later. I love Coxies programmes, for exactly the reason you’ve said – I could never have got into working in anything like astronomy, astrophysics, or anything like that, I don’t have the ability with maths, but I can grasp the principles when they’re explained the way he does.

    The man’s a national treasure!

If you haven’t already watched it, then you must watch 7 Days on Mars.  https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0018cd1

I do watch his stuff and I accept he is, if not already, going to be a National Treasure, but his voice grates on me.

Didn’t see it, but loved him in Succession – does he swear at people a lot in this one too?

    ugh ugh ugh

He spoke at one of our work conferences during Covid – on Zoom from his Manchester Uni office. Bizarre his stardom and yet, he’s also a regular Uni professor.

I can’t say the word “food” without saying it like ol’ Coxy.

After listening to Keavney and the infinite monkey cage I now have this mash up parody of him every time he speaks. I should show my 6 year old the programme as he is always asking ‘those’ questions but his attention span isn’t quite there yet.

He was pretty good in D:ream too.

Big fan of the Infinite Monkey Cage.

My lad met him when Prof Cox picked up some award at the uni, just after both my kids saw his last “arena” tour.

Jnr was sorting out the AV for the ceremony, and Brian Cox asked him how it was going – Jnr said something about more straightforward than your tour show, they got chatting, Brian asked him what he was studying and when Jnr said it was music they had a 15 minute conversation about the logistics of doing the arena tour with a live orchestra at Sydney Opera House, and kept everyone else waiting.

He seems a sound bloke, possibly because iirc he had to go to uni as a mature student as he didn’t get the grades? Though possibly an excuse for the D:ream years.

I watched it and really enjoyed it.  I think he’s really good.  He does tend to make presenting all that stuff in cool locations look beguilingly easy when I know that not many people could pull it off.  My only wish is that they would show more of the actual photos taken from space/probes (even if they are crap) to set them against the swish CGI animations.

And on the subject of the other Brian Cox, the complete set of Bob Servant is now showing on BBC iPlayer.

If you’ve always wondered what Broughty Ferry’s finest cheeseburger vendor can bring to your life, this is the time to find out.

I’ve already contacted the guy in Whitfield with a printer for a disabled parking badge.

Boys  6 and 4 have been on a space thing for a while, this was ideal for between teeth and bed just watched volcanoes (volcanoes have been a recent theme of interest, too, so it was right up their alley!  Remembered it cos of this thread – thanks johndoh.

Always torn between hoping they’ll fall asleep during something like this and hoping they’re interested enough to stay awake.  Agreed to finish it even though it was past their bedtime, then they wanted another…

And wife and I enjoyed it too.  He has got a way of explaining complex things simply.  I imagine the boys will be reminding us about the next episodes!
