I’m building a large shed/office/building approx 5.5m x3m it will have a small office area, drying room, and storage, i will be putting power in there, but ideally would like solar panels/batterys to run everything (with the power being back up) i will have approx 10no double sockets a few led lights, but also a few electric panel heaters, a dryer and fridge/freezer, does any one know what kit i would need ie how many/size solar panel, battery’s how many and size, inverter etc, cheers
Ps, the shed will be built using 4×2 frame work with 75mm kingspan, then breathable membrane then 2×1 to cause void then shiplap cladding, so its a proper build

I looked at pretty much this a year or 2 ago and it’s not really doable for a sensible amount of money. In the summer the numbers stack up just fine, but in winter when the productivity drops to the equivalent of 1 hour a day it becomes prohibitively expensive. Heaters you would have no chance.

Do a google search for ‘solar calculator’ or similar. As per the response above, LED lights – yes. Panel heaters, fridge freezers and dryers – massive consumption levels.

Yep, you need a proper installation to run all that.
Probably >£10k if you’re looking batteries as well.

What you could do is a few panels and an inverter linked to a standalone heater or two, with all the generation going to the heaters and the panels not linked to the mains at all
