it's about time i updated my library a bit

pretty much covered up to 2007, got plenty of Hawtin, Clarke, Villalobos et al and have an illegitimately acquired Cocoon Records back catalogue up to about 2006 i think.

what's new?

i'll try owt from uber minimalism through dirty detroit funkyness to pseudo industrial rantyness

so come on then, make me wiggle whilst i clean the house 🙂

Alex Smoke is what you need.

Also, not exactly techno, but the Mary Anne Hobbs show last week had some great sets –

I'm no expert, but I have been enjoying DJ T's Fabric mix. Especially that Township Funk kwaito track. Great dancing in that vid too.

The recent Duke Dumont one is very good too, but both may be a bit more house than techno, I'm too old to tell any more.

Roland’s been mixing it all up lately and dropping fidget , ghetto tek, techno and old school in his sets

i must be getting old 😯

Oh, and 2008's Omar S Fabric mix (all his own tunes) was considered something of a landmark in Detroit techno, I'm told.

I quite liked it, but must have gone off of Detroit a bit.

There's a new sound that goes "ping" that can be repeated ad nauseum.

Four things I've been listing to recently, more electronica than techno really:

Pantha du Prince – Black Noise

Autechre – Oversteps

Nedry – Condors

Four Tet – There Is Love In You

Try Red Bull Music Academy Radio for good mixes/intervies etc – if you have Audacity/Audio Hijack Pro then you can also download whatever you like.

Or check out Tech Funk Manifesto (Elite Force/Shack's) blog for all things good in the tech funk world.

Something else for you – not sure if he's still classed as techno, but I love a bit of Trentemøller.
More freeebeees 🙂

to be honest, nothing much has appealed to me yet. Maybe i should just stick to what's no doubt now classed as 'old skool' techno 🙁

certainly nothing has really got me wiggling like what Dave Clark-Archive 1 does

Not that new, but I just bought "Temporary Suspension" by Planetary Assault Systems (Luke slater).
I'm liking it a lot – proper, good old dancefloor techno vibe, bit of variation and the production is top-notch.

I'm a big fan of Cocoon Recordings too. Phil Kieran's "Shh" album is a winner. Most of their output is currently in the tech-house camp at the moment though. (But still good stuff!)

These days, I'm more into this kind of thing…

if you want old skool techno then you cant beat undergrond resistance and red planet stuff.

good sets on the im link from
Santiago Salazar
DJDex
Los Hermanos
rolando

However I have seen pretty much all the big names (US and European over the years and Taakaki Itoh would be my "desert island dj"

Try looking at the Seldom Felt label. It's all new stuff, but has that "proper bangin' techno" feel from the early-mid 90s. Me likey lots!
