I mistakenly thought I had stumbled upon a thread of fellow republicans, and the reference was to doing the decent thing and slaying a couple of members of the sponging classes.

Sorry, by sponging classes, do you mean the Royals or the students?

I know we sometimes appear to be going backwards at an alarming rate in terms of civilised behaviour, but I still reckon Britain is probably a long way off being the sort of country in which plain clothed security agents open fire on crowds because of a perceived threat to the monarch’s son. Let’s hope so anyway.

far more likely to be getting out the CS spray and the tazers

It must have been an awful experience for Charles & Camilla last night, I do feel for them, and then to have one’s car attacked beforehand, added insult to injury.

Tricky one that one ratty, specially as Prince Charles received all his university education completely free………he didn’t pay a single brass farthing in fees when he was a university student. What do reckon he meant ?

I’m with the protestors and their rights to protest.
I’m against the muppets that turn it violent/damaging.
I don’t think the police were even remotely close to getting guns out, that would have been a stupid thing to do and contrary to popular believe I don’t think the majority of the police force or Royal protection chappies are that stupid.

even if the cars security had been comprimised (ie window completely broken) I doubt there’d have been much of a threat to their safety. There’s a long way between smashing up a phone box and beating up some OAPs

watch the clips and read their lips….

    Camilla: The peasants are revolting….

    Charles: Obviously………

As opposed to Charlie Gilmour (pictured) son of Pink Floyds David Gilmour – estimated Net Worth $90 million

Do you really, really feel that I, on my massive bike industry wage, should pay the tuition fees for someone who’s dad is worth ninety million ‘king dollars? Do you think he cannot afford to go to University without public support!

Get this – I am paying for that fetid little turd to go to university!

So who do you think he meant ratty……..members of the Royal Family who paid nothing for their university education, or students who will go on to pay taxes ?

As I said, it’s a tricky one this one. What you reckon eh ?

Can’t compete on an intellectual level, so let’s resort to personal insults. How very intelligent, eh? 🙄

Question: how many on here were actually at the demonstration yesterday? Hmm?

    Thought not…

Eh Ernie? The royal family pay taxes too… in Fact Charlie paid over 3.5 million in income tax last year!

I’d hazard a guess that his dad has paid just a tad more tax than you have….

I thought this BBC story covers it well:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-11967984

Really surprised SO14 slipped up. Have worked with them before (the Queen came to visit)and they are usually incredibly meticulous.

    I’d agree with this quote:

“This is a very serious incident. It ranks amongst the most serious security breaches of the past decade.

“Some of the demonstrators yesterday were carrying petrol, specifically to use in arson attacks. If the can of paint had been a can of petrol, it would have been very different.”

A bit old but this gives an interesting insight into their (SO14’s)work and approach:

Isn’t that how Elfinomics is supposed to work Elfin, progressive taxation and all that 😉

Why should my tax pay for a millionaires son to go to university, I doubt my kids will be able to afford to? what’s fair about that?

Charlie paid over 3.5 million in income tax last year!

Gosh, he must have put in a few hours of work a week, to end up paying that sort of tax.

    But then maybe not……

Prince Charles pocketed more cash but paid less in taxes[/url]

    Still, he’s happy, that’s the main thing……..

…………and a smile like that is priceless.

just a quick q……….why were some of the rioters students wearing masks/hoodies/scarves to hide their faces??

Because their would be a cctv van recording everything, police officers with video cameras the police helicopter videoing not to mention the street cctv and all this video will be analysed and some of those students might be getting a police visit next year and being arrested.

Thing I don’t get is how people like Ton are moaning about the protesters? You’re always saying you’d rip someones arm off if they owe you £10 for a pushbike part, but the kid’s shouldn’t get narky if their future’s threatened?

I blame their elders, bad example they’re setting, innit.

Anyone know if there is VAT on tuition fees?

This is why the royal family needs the old Prince Harry back- he’d have been down the front, off his face, throwing rocks at the police. Gor bless him

Thing I don’t get is how people like Ton are moaning about the protesters?

Because people like Ton, Woppit etc live in little bubbles from which they seldom venture outside, and think the World revolves around them, without realising they themselves, like all of us, are insignificant little specks of dust, in the general scheme of things…

    Narrow minds; narrow views.

Attack a member of the royal family and face the consequences. That is a big line to cross, as if fighting riot police wasnt.

if that was anyones parents or grandparents they would be jumping of the sofa wanting to go and give the offenders a kicking.
Wonder if Harry will be out and about in an Apache tonight.
