    Thanks!
    I just bought back my old AM9 and upgrading the shock will be a priority for the build. I weigh about 93kg geared up and using full travel was never an issue with the RS Deluxe and original link when I had it. Still, the low leverage ratio combined with the stock Bomber tube made me wonder if it wouldn’t be too harsh

    Was a great bike but waay too small for me, never gelled with it. Still got the frame in the garage actually.

    @Yetiman, what spring did you settle on? Probably a similar weight with bag etc and thinking I might go lighter (currently on a 400 I think)

    I started at 350, but it was a bit firm and I and I didn’t need to dial in any LSC so I swapped for a 325.

    How do you find the 400 spring?

    Looking for one of the Bomber coil shocks but I can’t find one in stock at 230×65.

    Ah ha. There is no image command on my iPad. I Was trying to use the IMG command. I didn’t realise that isn’t necessary on iPad. Not sure that’s totally intuitive (not to use the IMG command). But now I know. Thanks.

    Aeris coil owners….. Did you find that you had to size up or down on the spring calculator when choosing the right weight springs….. I just about to hit buy and can’t decide coil or air.

    160. I know it’s only warranties to 150.

    I have a 160mm Lyrik on mine and three other AM9 owners I know are running 160mm forks too.

    @hamishthecat
    – I can’t recall where I read it (Ben Pinnick on here maybe) but I thought the latest version of the frame had met the testing criteria for 160mm forks, so I would have hoped the warranty would be changed to reflect this. There’s no mention of 160mm on the website though, and all of the fork options are still 150mm, so I’m guessing the warranty is still officially 150mm.

    @ifindoubtflatout
    – I opted for a lighter spring. A couple of spring calculators had me around 350lbs but I already knew that I needed to run more sag to get the best out of the air shocks I tried (RS Super Deluxe & CCDB Air), so I also bought a 325 spring and that’s the one that worked best. The 350 was just too firm in the second half of the stroke, and even with the lighter spring fitted I still didn’t need to add much LSC.

    If you buy a coil mail us your weight and desired sag and we’ll get the right coil for you.

    The V3 frame is rated to 160mm. That launches ‘officially’ (we’ve shipped a few already) in the very near future.

    @Yetiman. I’m in between weights as well so I was thinking of going down a size, cheers for that.

    @benpinnick
    . I was going to give you a call in the morning regarding the order if your about.

    I’m on a 375, no LSC. Are you meant to need LSC?

    I have a 350 which I meant to pickup today but forgot, will be another few weeks before I manage.

    I did grab my Megneg Deluxe as I might try the new linkage and it’s meant to be good with that. So far, coil has been good but not tested on much big this year.

    My Bird Zero Mk1.
    I bought the frame second hand about 3 years ago and built it up from a mixture of parts from my spares stash and bargain buys.

    The guys at Bird are great and I had some valuable advice from them when I was building the bike.
    It’s a brilliant bike and I am currently saving up to buy a Zero 29. I just wish Bird would do the 29 frame in some better colours.

    Thanks for the updates.
    Was the spec of the V3 changed to allow for 160mm forks or was simply a matter of validation re-runs?

    So, i finally got to ride my Aeris today at QECP, it’s my regular for the past 12 months ive been riding, also the first dry day this year ive been.. dusty.. and this thing smashed my PBS across the board..and wasn’t too shabby on the climbs either
    my first full squish, and it’s a big bike, ran wide a few times.. but what a beautifully controlled machine.
    gave myself a squeeky bum on the little tabletops when i realised the back end on full sus bikes really like to help out… i put on a click of LSC to see how that worked out, i figured more rebound would do it, but… it felt right… and if i put LSC on more of my pump would go into the front.. that was my logic anyway..
    still used all but a few mm of travel on the back though…., not that i could notice…

    We increased the thickness of the DT and Seat tube. Our testing (which is considerably more robust than ISO) was too close a call for us to warrant the previous version to 160mm.

    Rekindled my love of my Zero TR today! A couple of days ago I removed both mudguards (RRP + MH), replaced failing dropper with regular seatpost, tightened rear hub so that freewheel doesn’t fall off (and discovered the gears didn’t need fettling after all), and cleaned drivetrain and putolined chain. Was running great today, really enjoyable ride which most people would say was more gravel orientated, but it’s nice to play around on the TR.

    The new V3 AM9 is now on the Bird website. There’s two new colours to go with the raw and 170mm forks confirmed. Shorter seat tubes as well.

    Any AM9 users around here weighting between 88-90kg geared up with a coil shock? If so, what spring rates are you using? Also, please specify which link that’s with

    It differs to the online calculators, the tf tuned calculator suggested a 400 but I emailed Bird with all my details and they said I needed a 450 at 85ish with my gear on. Drop Dan an email at Bird and he’ll sort you out.
