Very nice. I’d love a Honda CRF250 but with this around me being Scotland, greenlaning is out the window so it would be a trailer number for me I think

2006 YZ125 came with the kayaba speed sensitive fork, it has a truly great engine. Run it a bit rich on the needle (two up from the bottom notch) cant remember what the main jet is but again run it a touch rich (bigger main jet)

Watch out for the powevalve retaining pins as they rattle out.

Standard front pipe is best, not worth spending money on a tail pipe.

If the engine is fresh and using cast not forged pistons you can wring its neck. Note change pistons on a regular basis (Makita are cheap and good)

Possibly the best MX bike ever built..

05 was first ally frame… 🙂 Fantastic bikes and yep, if you bought a brand new one, it wouldn’t be vastly different. Great shout on the Yamaha Experience day – clean and oil the filter every day you ride it, use decent fuel and the best pre-mix yiu can get your hands on, new ring every few months to freshen her up (assuming you ride most weekends), job’s a good ‘un. Much jealousy, enjoy! 🙂

Mx tracks are usually open mid week. Much less daunting for a beginner as they are quieter

Nice one OP, glad to see you went ahead and got it bought! Just re read the thread. It would’ve been daft to have let it pass. Hope you enjoy it

Should I buy my first Motocross bike?

    Yes, yes, yes.

I should have a motorbike licence in the far east but I didn’t so never got to ride anything beyond 50cc in my life but now I want a Yamaha TMAX 560 or Honda X-ADV…

Well done on the purchase! Now get some forearm / grip strengtheners. MX bikes are amazing if youre bike fit, but not much fun on track if ur not. Biggest challenge for me was always bike fitness as MX is super physical on a lot of (loam/sandy) practice/race tracks.

That looks nice – need more pics (and you need a big hungry dog/massive chain and padlock)

    Awesome enjoy.

I have a Husqvarna FE350 Enduro bike and I love it. I think Enduro is less likely to end up in hospital than motorcross. A lot of it is low speed and technical rather than flat out hitting massive doubles 🙂

I rode a big motocross track the other day, it was terrifying 🙂

Very nice. Last crosser i rode was a friends KX500 2-stroke. He was given it as payment for something and couldn’t get it started. I knew “the knack” of getting them started, ie making sure the kickstart is at top of stroke. Had a great few days ripping around on it. Pretty scary mind, ridiculously quick!
