Shimano spd cleat plate movement

Had anyone else had this on a set of shimano shoes?

The plate that the cleat screws into, when I pull up my right foot I can feel it, like there’s movement

The left ones fine

I can’t see anything odd and the cleats are tight and torqued up so no movement there

I’ve investigated and taken the innersoles out, and the plates look both in place with no oddness, the stickers that go over said area are both off, but the left ones still fine, the right one I can pull up the shoe with some play

Any ideas? The sole of the shoes solid so its not loose or anything anywhere else

If you’re positive the plate/sole/cleat sandwich is secure, the problem must lie in the cleat to pedal interface or the pedal itself. Retention plate in the pedal bent or worn, bolts holding it to the pedal loose, damaged cleat, that kind of thing.

I have this sometimes – after cycling a long distance (i have spds on my roadbike as i don’t like the stupid road shoes) i start to get a click, can sort of feel a movement. Cleats are stable, bolts are tight. I figure it must be wear in the cleat or pedal itself.

Hmmm pedals are brand new and to double check I used my otehr winter boots and the right one feels totally normal so I’ve ruled out the pedals and cleats

It’s something in the shoe but I xannot for the life of me find anything odd or a piece of shoe that’s loose on the sole at all

Oh OK, you’ve done the kind of elimination tests I would have tried. What about the upper coming away from the sole?

Yeh tried all that, bendign the shoe, pulling at it, loads of different things to see if it’s coming away somewhere but nothing obvious standing out, I mean it Is defo the shoe but how or why I have no idea, Ive absolutely tightened the cleat bolts as tight as humanly possible I guess it will either cure it or they’ll be stuck in forever

I have this. IN my case its the rubber sole is worn differently on the two shoes – so when one is clipped in the rubber sole is compressed against the body of the pedal. On the other shoe it is not so small amount of up and down play – not enough to see but enough to feel
