And then Rogan Josh doesn’t even offer her his sausage, what a rotter.

    (slight edit)

That would be a currywurst surely? Mit mayo?

I’ve had mechanicals, and the odd stupid crash where you just wouldn’t expect it to happen, I’ve also seen mates have the same problems, and everytime I’ve been really pleased that we stick together.

Not really a valid question, I was saying that if I were the faster rider I wouldn’t leave a mate or partner behind.

Ever been out for a few beers with mates and one of them has to go home early due to other commitments? Is the biggest drinker expected to escort them home?

If I took a mate to a pub I’d be by their side till the pizza’s where on the table.

OK, but where is the table, and what does the pizza own?

<joke>Why did the Boyfriend leave the slow helpless girly with a broken bike to go to the German Sausage market?

Because he was the Wurst Boyfriend ever!</joke>

    Gender is irrelevant.

    Wives tend to be female.

Seems a lot of anger on here without many people asking what the full story was.

Granted. I was suggesting that it didn’t matter that the person in question was female, more that they were being left on their own. Twas all. 🙂

Fair enough. One side of the coin is you wouldn’t leave a mate/partner, the other side is a mate/partner wouldn’t expect you to stay with them. Anyway, we’re essentially saying the same thing but in different ways, I just don’t think its fair to call him an a-hole based on very limited information and an obviously sarcastic post 🙂

Fair enough. A-hole a bit strong maybe.

More a cad or a bounder perhaps. 😀

All seems a bit weird until you read the responses from those involved. Having read all through this I’m still of the opinion that you roll out together then split off into groups and roll in together or head your own way home/back etc. but you do have the courtosy of asking those first yeah, you know to see if all are in agreement. Taken this approach many times where mechanicals and just generally getting pissed off with the ride has tended to get split in 2/3/4 sub groups…

hora, have you ever been in a similar situation as a result of changing frames during a club ride?

    pondo

Absolutely cast-iron would not have left Mrs Pondo. Would not leave mates unless there was a clear, workable plan of action (people on the case fixing, or someone rides back to get a vehicle, or they’ve phoned for a lift ot something, rather than “you crack on, I’ll work it out”). Have bailed out of a group ride on the last day of a long weekend, partly because I was slowing the group down, and partly because flogging myself into the ground so they wouldn’t have to wait too much was rapidly losing appeal. They made sure I had a map and knew where I was and where we were parked.

So you have a ballot rather than listen to the persons decision if they feel Ok to head back on their own.

Lister & I once left a mate with a puncture in the middle of a midge fest on Deadwater fell. He had no tube, pump or common sense. Saw him about an hour later in the car park. His toys presumably burned up on re-entry.

I was thinking about that after I wrote the above – intially I was of the thinking that Mrs Pondo would expect me to stay. On reflection, she might not, actually, if say we were near to the car, but I’d still insist on staying with her.

In your rush to rip open your Hobnobs condemn Bogtrotters/her boyfriend you seem to have missed one crucial thing from the OP

a girl pushing her 5 along the road

Would have left in her the carpark if she was riding a 5 😉

There are one or two that do deserve to be abandond, based on throwing a hissy fit or similar.. In particular, for me I find acting like a Brat, wurst… or those overbearing tech types that have trailside repair issues and have lost the Knack, wurst of all

Then those drunken ones that your out with, the ones with the little hip flasks, the ones that have drunk so much they feel nothing after an OTB moment wherever they land, jager meister is all they seem to care about… spose it dulls teh pain..

    bikebouy

Yeah, we have a straw poll, those who pull the shortest leave the group pronto.. 🙄
Those that hold everyone back, get left behind 🙄
Those that ride 5’s can’t normally sort themselves out without thier Mummys helping hand and get left in the carpark/club carpark 🙄
Those that don’t bring spares get booted off the ride if they ask “have you got a tube I could borrow” 🙄
Those that ride Treks get bullied into covering up the logo on the downtube 🙄
Those that shout “wait I’ve not set up my Garmin yet” get to ride on the outside of a three abrest chain on the road sections 🙄
Those that talk whilst riding don’t get asked back 🙄

    Thems da rulz.

But I’d suggest that one word covers the OP’s point…

You seem to be confusing about envy- still you goad and ignore like a proper boggy would when faced with an opposing view 😉

Its probably worth pointing out that the bogtrotters club is really quite large and as a result there are many groups that ride and don’t often meet at all. Note that one bog member specifically says northern in his sign off

With that in mind there have been lots of Christmas parties and away weekends that I have not attended whilst being a bogtrotter member purely down to the large contingent of numpties in that particular group

In the group that I used to ride with nobody would haver been left or been on their own I’m sure of that.

    Lots of love

A lot of rotters, promises, not leaving behinds and buggers going on in that statement, not to mention playing in dark holes.

Can I join your ‘club’? 😉

The attitude of some boggies in this thread isn’t exactly encouraging me to want to go and ride with them – but i don’t really like riding in big groups much anyway.

What ever happened to equality and the pirates code? 😀

No offence meant to any club but they do seem to have an unspoken peckibg order. I rode with the boggies once at Gisburn. Seemed a nice bunch tbh but just me. I prefer a lose collective or bumping into people on the trails.

You cant have a 10min conversation with a group of walkers if the first 5 riders are intent on showing the females in the group their climbing prowess/fitness and shit taste in front-zipper club-branded tops.
