No, I actually think Tree-Magnet has a very good point tbh. People can be put off by all the childish bickering and ‘banter’. That some of us might think it’s ok, doesn’t mean it is.

I’m one of the main culprits. I admit it. I’m looking at ways to be more pleasant and universally acceptable. I think we all should.

TJ can bang on a bit, for sure, and there’s times when he himself knows he should just back off, but then there’s many times when he’s making an intelligent, reasoned, well-thought out point of view, and people come along and just start throwing petty insults around, and attempt to belittle him, whilst not actually contributing anything worthwhile. Then they say TJ’s the one with the problem….

I am guessing they just get fed up with his omni-presence (to some extent the same as you, me and many others).

I usually agree with TJ but when I dont I can see why his style really annoys/grates other people. It is not a court and he does often miss the big picture to focus in on one single point ad naseum.

Generally speaking TJ talks more sense than his detractors and refrains from personal abuse.

I disagree with some of his opinions, but at least he has thought them out and they are not mere prejudices.

As usual there are 2 camps – the “its only the internet it doesn’t matter” and the ” don’t post what you wouldn’t say to their face” Its the conflict between the two schools of thought that gives rise to a lot of the agrro IMO.

I feel strongly that its important to attempt to remain civilised and that even tho it is the internet it does matter. I do find it amusing how many people feel they need to attack me – and as on the euro thread often for things I had not said. Its like they need a bogeyman to fight with and they have chose me. I suppose I should be flattered.

As a confirmed TJ whipper I think you lot should realise something, he is to be admired. If I was given the amount of grief on a forum that he gets I would change my name and leave the country. Whilst he may be pedantic, annoying and never prepared to admit when he is wrong, which he often is, he can at least man up to it. EDIT – Look at his response above, a lesser man would be blubbing.

His antics will attract a lot of abuse, and I think he knows and probably accepts that.

And it’s true that he generally does not resort to abuse or pettiness, this is normally apparent to me when I am busy calling him all kinds of stuff. So I for one like this thread, partly because it’s a TJ win, partly because every now and then he needs bigging up and he often needs to be abuses.

The most important point is we need him here.

I forgot to mention TJ’s major problem, he cannot seem to be able to read other people’s posts, I think he skim reads for the OUTRAGE phrases and doesnt bother to actually read all the word so he never get’s your meaning.

Late to the piece but having just found this thread my first thought on the OP’s post was, ‘heehee that’s a bit of a giggle’.

It is almost depressing to read how seriously some people take themselves and this forum. It’s only a bit of fun/info/bikey chat/good natured debate mixed together…….isn’t it?

I think I will continue to have the same attitude as Mr Poddy who wrote
