I’ve got 4 sets of these, various models and ages.

One pair has developed a bit of play and the LH one is very notchy in its rotation. I’ve managed to remove the dust caps using circlip pliers and I’ve got the nut off which holds the body on to the axle. Easy so far.

I expected the body just to slide off the axle at this point, but it’s not moving. What now? Do I need to set about it with a hammer and punch?

What will I find inside it? Are the bearings serviceable? They’re a set of ATAC Aliums of indeterminate age, but they have dust caps with 6 little holes around the edges, if that helps.

    Cheers,

you generally just need to knock the body off the axle once the nut is removed.clamp the axle spanner flats in a vice and knock/pull the pedal body off? don’t clamp the pedal threads in the vice or you’ll bugger them

    Cheers Andy.

Got it now. All regreased and running smoothly again, though the play is still there. None of the other pairs have developed this play and one set is 10 years old (never serviced!)

You probably need new bushes to get rid of the play. I had a nightmare getting hold of any in the UK but you just need to ask the time distributor
