Anyone got a sectional concrete garage? I need a garage and been looking at sectional concrete ones from Hanson.

I know they’d be colder in winter but it’ll be only used as a store. Any other downsides?

any idea of how would cost of a pent roof block built garage compare? Concrete one for 2.5m x 4.9 is about £3600 delivered and installed (+ cost of concrete base)

Pretty sure you can get them cheaper than that…

Some people hate them but done right they ARE dry and don’t get damp. I was considering one for a shed tbh.

Also look at Nucrete – £3600 seems expensive.

Keep an eye on Gumtree. I got a 12×10 one for free. Paid somebody else I found on Gumtree to dismantle it and then re assemble the walls at mine on a concrete Base I already had . A few trips to the tip to get rid of the old asbestos roof. Put a new roof on, a few coats of paint and some electrics in there and it is great.

    Total cost about £900.

You’ll not be able to fix shelving or bike hooks to the wall in a sectional one.

My freebie Gumtree one has brackets on the inside which as well as holding the panels in, also allow Timber batons to be attachedvertically to them. Shelving, bike hooks and other things then attached to them. All four walls with stuff.

We’ve had a hanson one for a couple of years now, I’ve insulated and lined the inside with osb so can put shelves up anywhere. So far it’s been dry and warm inside, I’ve still got to finish lining the roof but I stupidly filled it up with stuff before finishing so this might take a while.
I had the garage sealed to the base with polysulphide sealant by the company who laid the slab, rather than the mortar recommended by hanson, and fitted a rubber seal under the door there’s no sign of any water penetrating and the sealant has a 10 year guarantee from the installer.
I cheaped out and had timber rather than upvc cladding, I’d recommend going with plastic if you can afford it as the wood needs painting and some of the ply parts are already starting to de-laminate.
The installers were great, turned up on a cold wet January morning and had the thing finished by lunchtime.

I’m going for a timber “log cabin” garage instead the pice comes somewhere in between a concrete sectional and a block built garage, but it should be a lot prettier than a concrete one, with less of the inherent condensation issues
