Hmmmm, loads of little gems covered so far in this, so for the sheer fun of it:

    King of Kong.

A great little indie documentary with a very funny story that the Director admittedly just stumbled on. It’s a little gem of a film.

Clerks (then go on a Kevin Smith athon)

Clerks 2 after you’ve watched Clerks (surprisingly good for a sequel).

Watch “ils” a French-Romanian suspense/horror movie. Really quite unsettling in a way I didn’t expect it to be.

    Bravo.

Apologies if these have already been mentioned, on a Sci-Fi trend (Non-Alien!):

Primer – but you will have to watch it more than once, complex time travel plot.
Pitch Black – Vin Diesel ( 😮 ) low budget actioner.

The Insider. (Gets better the more you watch it).
I really like Collateral. (Not hidden, but I think it is better than it gets credit for).
13 Tzameti. (A French film about a tournament of Russian Roulette).
    Pan’s Labyrinth. ( Disturbing fantasy).

Sorry but Clerks 2 is appalling (and I am a huge clerks/Kevin smith fan)
Chasing Amy is his best film after Clerks
Another vote for deli and Amilie, also MicMacs is good, very much in the same vein as Deli, and also by jean Pierre jeunet, with audrey Tautou and a world war 1 theme is ‘A very long Engagement’
Trees Lounge (Steve Bushemi is outstanding in this) it’s a slow film nothing happens but it has a trailer trash kind of charm
    Motorcycle Diaries
The Aviator I always think flew (see what I did there) a bit under the radar

No way. Clerks 2 has a surprising poignancy to it. It warrants a second watch. Most people who didn’t enjoy number 2 just couldn’t get over the fact it wasn’t black and white and was polished. It is far from appalling.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but Guy Pearce directed by Christopher Nolan in Memento is an astoundingly good film. Told totally in reverse.

+1 for so many previously mentioned but especially City of God. Pan’s labyrinth is a bit good too.
