I just bought a 2007 Rockhopper. There seems to be a bit of a proiblem with the TORA fork as it is totally locked out. I have removed the adjuster knob and checked that the lockout mechanism turns which it does (had one a while back where the know was broken but the adjuster worked fine with a spanner). Any idea what the problem could be, how do I sort it? I have never taken apart a set of forks so a bit ominous. Cheers

Somebody recently suggested this could be a leaking damper cartrdge filling the bottom of the leg and causing a hydraulic lock.I know that RS have had problems with leaking cartridges recently(we’ve had a few on bikes that have emptied themslves either before being unboxed, or over the workshop floor.),if it is your problem then they aren’t difficult to change, but make sure the lockout is off before refitting or it won’t go in.

If it’s a coil fork then the problem is the compression side (right hand fork leg). Good news is it’s fairly easy to sort if you can wield an allen key. I solved mine by simply removing the lowers and changing the oil – the procedure is in the service manual downloadable from the SRAM website.
