My Dad has given my son his old 3GS iphone. No SIM card in it but the idea is just to use it like an ipod touch.

How do I wipe it and make it ‘my sons iphone’ when I plug it into itunes. I already have a apple account and would like to be able to put some of my apps from my iphone onto it as well as be able to transfer music onto it from itunes

    Cheers,
    Dan

You can put it in “restore” mode by holding down the home and sleep keys together (google for more info).

This will prompt iTunes to do a full factory reset and re-install the OS. About as clean a slate as you can get.

Might be worth sticking a PAYG sim with no credit on it in there, might keep the phone happier.

I am having major dramas with this at the moment!

    Settings > General > Reset ?

Or can you just sync in iTunes and then press restore?
