Looking into treating myself to some carbon bars, has anyone had or still using the Renthal Fat Bar Lite? Just wondering if they are worth the money and the benefits. I’m upgrading from my stock Funn bars that came on my Zesty.

    Cheers 🙂

I’ve got them on my XC bike & love them.
They’re not stiff (deliberately) & a great shape.
I’ve got the alloy version on another bike & the difference is noticeable.

I’ve got a set coming, JE James were cheap on these on Friday, so thought it would be rude not to.

I have a set. They’re a nice shape, and approx 100g lighter than your average alu bar.

Other than that they dont feel any different to me than an alu bar . Dont buy them thinking you’re going to see the trails come alive or anything like that, buy them because they’re 100g lighter than alu. if that weight saving doesnt matter then just get some alu bars.

Shorelines in Sheffield were doing Chromag 800mm carbon bars for £75 last week, 35mm though so you’d need a new stem too.

I believe carbon bars are a worthy investment, really hate the look of the Renthal ones though.

I have three of these on different bikes. 740mm is plenty wide enough for me but some people will complain that they are too narrow. Personal preference / fashion etc.

They work ok. They look ok. The upsweep/backsweep seems good to me. They come in four different rise options which is good.

They’re just bars though so personally I doubt you’ll see or feel any kind of earth shattering improvement.

Never again would I get a set of carbon bars well from Easton atleast as they were far too stiff for wrists to cope with.

If the Renthals have a touch of flex and come in a decent rise and have a sweet spot for upsweep and back then theyre’s no real reason why not.

It is funny how folk complain that 740mm isn’t wide enough unless they have a gorilla type shoulders which I thought I did.
Or that they’re not confident riderswith anything less.

I personally ride 720mm as don’t fancy clashing with trees/saplings every other second under the woods.

I’ve got a set of renthal carbon fatbar lites. Do as you’d expect with a little more give and considerable weight saving over the aluminium version. Gladly recommend them if the up/back sweep numbers work for you.

cheers for the advice! Think I’d better treat myself if JE James are still doing them at that price. I’m pretty new to riding and was thinking the 20 degree rise would be a good move, will it make much difference or is it just personal preference?

Surely it depends on where you want bars to sit in height in line with post height and if you feel comfortable with current height of bars.
