Been trying to remember the legend that decided that drop bars and downhilling went together like eggs and bacon.

Jason McRoy keeps popping into my head but I’m sure it’s not him.

I’ve got a vague thought that Jimmy Deaton and Insane Wayne Croasdale also looked at it, as did one of the Orange riders – and didn’t the man posting at 2 go there as well?

and the whole effect is spoiled ‘cos he couldn’t be bothered to get matching water bottles…

Look at all that stuff he’s using that makes riding off road impossible now:
    Cantilever brakes
    Quill stem
    Lycra
    Toe clips
    Water bottles

I believe he was doing a bit of road racing at the time & thought it would make the transition between the two easier. At least thats what MBUK said.

Who on earth would do something so silly as put drop bars on a bike that gets ridden off road? Oh, hang on, cyclo what did you say? And they’ve been doing it for how many years? Even before mtb’s were even thought of? Really, thats capped me ‘n’ right lad! ‘appen.

Are drop bars still legal to use in MTB races?

Banned at SITS – I asked. I think the results would be too embarrassing for the DH-wannabees.
