The incredible 5-mile walk in the Lake District that ends at one of UK’s ‘best pubs’
Take a journey on this exhilarating 5-mile walk that ends with a historic pub that’s renowned for being a centre for climbing and walking in the Lake District.
Famed for its captivating scenery, stunning wildlife, rich cultural heritage and country walks like no other, the Lake District will undoubtedly leave you in awe.
One such walk comes highly recommended for the avid adventurist that’s inspired some of the most famous writers and poets along its five mile route.
The trail comes with a note of caution, however, particularly in the snowy months.
Those less brave are recommended to climb north-east of this trail to the waters of Styhead Tarn
A footpath can be found between the Inn and the Barn Door shop with the track of Moses Trod descending into the heart of the valley.
“Some easy scrambling may be necessary as the trail begins to ascend,” noted Lakelovers.
It added: “The enchanting waters of Sty Head Tarn make for a pleasant stop to soak in the far-reaching views.
“From here, you can join the Corridor Route by crossing the stepping stones and making a small descent.”
From Corridor Route walk southwards to Scafell Pike passing Great Gable and onto Ennerdale.
Expert plenty to marvel at during this point with white-capped mountains, green valleys all surrounded by vertiginous terrain.
Experts highly recommend exploring slightly north, heading to the cold waters of Styhead Tarn.
This 10-minute walk provides even better views and picture-perfect moments as you head towards Borrowdale heading on to the northern Fells.
Once fully satisfied head back to the original spot where you can toast your success with a drink at the Wasdale Inn.
This popular pub once had the literary greats stay here, including poet William Wordsworth, literary critic Samuel Taylor Coleridge and writer Charles Dickens.
