Big fan of the nivea ones at the moment. Much better than gillette.
I also use wilkinson quatro platinum razor, better than any of the gillette ones.

Having battled with wire wool sprouting from my face for years, I can speak with some authority on this.

King of Shaves oil is good, but I found it to be problematic with multi-blade razors – it gums them up and you spend more time cleaning scum out of your razor than you do shaving. I use it in my travel kit, just because it's a teeny tiny bottle.

By a country mile though, you can't beat a proper shaving brush and soap. It beats anything you get in a can, and it's way more cost-effective long term than any trendy products. I've now invested in a proper (expensive) badger hair brush, but to get you started Tesco carry a Wilkinson Sword branded brush, and WS soap in a blue plastic dish, at less than a tenner for the pair. I'd definitely recommend it, I reckon you'll never look back but even if you don't get on with it you won't have broke the bank.

Captain how does that sophistication match up with your love of Crue et al?

I've used that one as well. Just bought some Trumper[/url]. Smells nice and gives a nice lather. Not sure it's miles better than the Men-U stuff but it makes a change.

Aren't there certain bikes you can purchase that mean you no longer need to shave? 😉

I disagree. A little waxing/tidying up is still required.

Anything that lathers should be applied with a brush.

Some Taylor Avocado works a treat when used with a brush.

I started using a double edge safety razor partly because of ingrowing hairs using a Mach3 and partly because of the expense and the way multi-blade razors are marketed, what are they up to now? 6 blades?

    This is great http://connaughtshaving.com/merkur34c.html

King of Shaves Shave Serum. Works great even with multi blade razors. Even better with King of Shaves Razor.

Sounds a bit like an advert but as someone who hates shaving but has to for my job it is the best combination I have found. Quick, easy, less mess and less cuts.

    £9.45! 😯 So what's wrong with these … Palmolive (£1.75) or Erasmic (£1.25) or Ingram (£1.79)

    With this … £15 + £3.50 postage for 200 razors …

Or plenty of St James shaving soap now available at TKMaxx for £5 …

Have a look at the Arran Aromatics shaving soap £12.50 for the soap and £17.50 for the brush if you don't have one, used it and loved it ever since.

    renton,

I got them from here …
    The Gentlemen Shop

The blade quality is good too as I know Personna blades are manufactured in several countries and this one has been good for me so far.

I use it on my Gillette Red Tip which is an aggressive safety razor for some but not me.

    Which Merkur do you have?

    😛

I'm convinced that razors and feminine hygiene products are in a competition to see which can have the most "features".

For the last 30 years or so, I've only ever used normal soap & I have a beard as tough as a scrubbing brush

Give my face a good wash with hot soapy water then, just apply more soap & shave

King of Shaves oil works great for me, not had any problems with it blocking up razors, and gives much closer shave than cream, plus you can see where your shaving!

You absolutely MUST try Ambrosia shaving cream from those smelly Lush stores. (I get my wife to buy it for me, can't stand the smell of the place). Its in a plain black plastic bottle and seems expensive for it's size but a little goes a long way. I started using it a few years ago and haven't gone back to anything else. I've recommended it to my brother-in-law and a couple of mates and they're converts too.

Tesco Gel. £1 per can, exactly the same as the expensive Gillette ones. I know because I bought it by accident and only spotted it after a couple of weeks use! That was about a year ago, never used anything else since.
