The Silky range are superb. You really can cut through whatever very quickly. The expensive ones are stupidly good, 8 inch fallen trees despatched with ease.

Silky Fox really are outstanding. Sharp as a sharp thing that's just graduated from whetstone university with a PhD in honing. ahem.

After owning a cheaper B&Q one then a Silky the more expensive ones are worth the extra IMO if you are using em a lot.

Axminster do some Japanese pull saws quite cheaply, some fold, some allow the blade to separate from the handle (keep the cover for the blade so you can pack it in a bag). Very thin kerf as the blade is in tension when you cut, so less effort in the cut and weighs nowt.

Bahco. Used one for years to cut through trees, muddy roots, you name it, still sharp.

Does that mean good enough for whipping up a delightful wild mushroom omelette in Epping Forest?

    Bahco Laplander + 1.

Tried the Gerber, I think they use the same foil they wrap up chewing gum with to make the blades from. I've cut through 5 inch branches with the Bahco, its still sharp, seems it will last for ages. The Gerber was pants by comparison.
