Recomend me a 40/42 lcd tv for under £600

Mainly for dvd watching / BBC iplayer HD /needs to have digi box in, would like to be able to plug my laptop in and needs to have a SD plug in.Must have an on off switch not just stand by.

They are doing the Sony KDL40W4000U for £699 which is just over your budget, but a great deal for the money.

Go Plasma …. Panasonic TH42PX80 .. I think Curry’s doin’ for £499

Currys are doing the LG 1080p model for about £550. Great tv, great price.

Toshiba 1080p lcd 30000:1 con ratio – 3 hdmi etc – £499 at comet. add 100 for upscaling tosh dvd and a black glass stand.

I got one – very happy 🙂

After a visit to the sony centre its going to be the Sony KDL40W4000 its just stunning in the flesh and got a great deal with Bluray DVD and wall mounting. £850 bit over budget but I was smitten.

Rich – how soon you looking at getting one? My wife works for a AV company and might be able to sort you out with a good one at a good price but isn’t back in until the 5th Jan. She’s happy to see what she can do if you can wait.
