    Hey,

I read an article a couple of months ago (pardon the delay, I’m in Oz) about the Yak Attack…it sounded amazing!!

So i’ve go in contact with some fo the guys that were involved and I’m hoping to do it in 2010. Coming from a triathlon background, I think I should be ok on the fitness part, but need to get my ass on a mtb. Living in Wales (when I get home), I’ll have plenty of access to get my skills up to scratch…

Now, with the event requirring the competitors to carry the bike for long periods of time on the stages, I’ll be looking for a light hardtail with a budget of around £800ish…

Any suggestions? Also, anyone else looked into the Yak?!
By the looks of it, I’ll be back in Wales before April/May, so if anyone from Wales on here fancy Brechfa or Afan, then let me know….would be good to have some company out there!!

    Cheers,
    John

If you’re looking to buy on your return to the uk then I’d suggest looking at some of the Giant hardtails they have for sale at Pauls Cycles – last year (or the year befores) models at significant discount but you do get the benefit of a higher spec and thus lighter weight.

If you’re tall-ish (around 5’10” up) check out the Salsa Moto Rapido I have for sale in classifieds. I’m in no real hurry to sell if you’re not in the UK yet, just trying to make room, but its an amazing bike for your budget. I can supply pix by email.
