    Did anyone on here do it at the weekend?

    As always, the atmosphere and organisation was top notch. A different route this year due to deforestation but it was great and I actually preferred it.

    No ale on the way round, except for a dropbear NA,  due to.insurance issues but plenty of ale available at the end.

    For me, it typifies what mountain.biking should be. A huge range of ages, abilities and bikes all having a great time.

    Haven’t done it for a few years now, but

    Do they not do beer stops at all now? Seems kind of pointless then.

    I only ever rode it once. It was very wet. In fact after turning off the road we seemed to spend  about an hour riding along a stream. There was beer at the checkpoints, but it was about 1/3 of a pint at each so I saved my vouchers and had a whole pint at the end, count it, a whole pint of beer!. (It may even have been two pints – maybe the ‘external’ vouchers added up to one, with a bonus pint at the end?).) I remember nothing about the route other than the moisture levels, and a conversation at one of the checkpoints about a local restaurant here in Swansea. It seemed a long day out to drink a small amount of insipid beer and get cold and wet, but the precipitation may have affected my judgement.  😀

    I thought it was glorified pub crawl and quite fancied the idea

    If it’s just a bike ride with beer at the end, I do that every ride anyway

    I missed it this year but I’m keen to ride it again next year. I’m very much of the teenrat school of thought, it’s a right good laugh. If you miss the boozy aspect, take a hip flask.

    I seldom ride in a group so it’s a bit of a change for me, even if it is on local(ish) trails. The vibe in Llanwrtyd is always top notch afterwards.

    @teenrat
    , do you have a *.gpx? I’m intrigued about the new route.

    bloody hell. it was wet the couple of times we did it, but fun.  though personally I can’t really ride on beer so new format makes sense for me.

    (isn’t the point that it co-incides with the beer festival in town.  that’s reason enough to go and ride.)

    The official route finished after the white bridge dh with ale and bbq. Then a 3 mile ride along the road to the community centre for more ale. Then the mid Wales beer festival for more ale.

    @ambrose
    – I can share a strava route if that works?

    @teenrat, thank you, that would be great 🙂
