Rab’s product lines change frequently, if this isn’t a big success they’ll probably drop it within a few seasons

Should’ve had a swanky launch party with invites saying “Cinders, you shall come to the ball”

This is a good thing – they make good kit usually, and new designs with a wider experience of outdoor kit will likely be really good..

Got my daughter a lovely rab parka from go outdoors in Sheffield for Xmas. Excellent saving on rrp. Not as good as the montane factory shop mind…

 

 

I have the kinetic waterproof trousers for walking made by them and rate them a lot! Looking forward to seeing the kinetic jacket and it’s price.

Interested in that phantom with its hydrophilic sandwich filling. though the picture makes it look like soft cellophane.

Shan’t be seeing any IRL as the nearest stockist looks like it is in Stoke.

I didn’t see much more detail on the website ‘coming soon’ but I see there’s a new county.

I have a Kinetic/Proflex waterproof jacket, itt’s a soft and lovely thing to wear and is brilliantly waterproof, and I have never let it anywhere near a bicycle or dirt of any kind as I’m terrified of ruining it

Will be interesting to see what price point they come in at. Cycling gear is so expensive compared to decent out door gear

i do like rab gear, and its not a silly rapha collaboration, just wish they had some brighter colours,

I have been using their Vapor Rise jackets and waterproofs on the bike for years and they are really good. Really interested to see what they come up with.

I’ve got a ‘normal’ kinetic jacket (kinetic Alpine?) that I use for MTB and it’s great. I’ve washed it loads and it’s still waterproof and breathing. No problems with the seam taping.

They often end up on SportPursuit for a more reasonable price.

 

I’d be interested to see if they’ve thought about securing an unused hood – I’ve got a great windshirt (Alpine pull-on) from them that’s useless on the bike because the hood acts like a parachute instead of packing away, and I can think of a load of ‘bike-specific’ designs that (I haven’t bought because they) also have this design flaw.

Indeed looking at the pictures I can’t see a hood ‘retainer’. I’ve a Scott cycling windproof that’s the same – and it bugs me every ride. Mrs_oab is going to sew something on.

Sometimes the Rab price reflects paying adults in Britain a wage rather than oppressed people in China.

Still, if we’re all happy to have a huge trade deficit and support the Chinese regime, carry on buying cheap sweat shop imports.

I’ve got a lovely Rab Nexus hoodie which I love and have worn on the bike a lot this autumn and winter.
warm, light, quick drying.
I was hoping for something like that but with a longer tail tbh.

It’s really tricky for us as users to interpret the linked statement from Rab about supply chain ethics and management. It could represent a positive push and progress, or it could be quite vacuous.

Personally, I will continue to look at Keela, Paramo and Patagonia first for new kit and only look elsewhere when I need something that these cannot supply.

Anyone tried any of it yet?

Is “Cinder” a new category of bike that I’ll have zero interest in?

1st ride in the shorts today, nicely made and no issues on a 50 miler

the kinetic waterprof jacket has a lovely soft feel to the outside and inside, it’s not rained proprly yet to test the waterproof properties but fit and function are good

Anyone tried the Cinder Kinetic pants yet? Looking at them instead of the Patagonia storm as wear them all day weather proof layer – fed up of wet chamois (yes I do run a mud guard!).

We had a test pair in but returned them without testing because they didn’t fit me or Amanda and it didn’t seem like a different size would help. They were too tight in the calves but too big in the hips and waist, and too short for either of us. Hope that helps, sort of! I guess Amanda and I are fairly similar in build – same sort of height, although Amanda has a smaller waist than me. I guess a different shape person might fit them better.

Damn the short in the legs bit was exactly what I was worried about as there is no long in the woman’s, and you are both similar height to me. Fit sounds disappointingly odd, and I’m a bigger build that both of you, so can’t imagine they will be any better on me. Thanks Hannah. Looks like it’s back to the Patagonia then.

I got Cinder Ridgeline Jacket on offer, seems pretty good for certain conditions. Only got couple of rides in before the weather turned worse but the combination of fleece-like material and some windproof panels kept me warm but not too sweaty.
