I’m hatching an evil plan to catch the ferry to Spain and cycle up to Brittany to get another ferry home. I’ve done a bit of googling and discovered that this is actually quite a common long distance ride, mainly in the other direction. However, most of the routes I’ve come across follow the coastline avoiding any decent Pyrenean passes. I’m looking for a high, low traffic pass to cycle over somewhere east from Pamplona. Can any one reccommend any?

Also, if anyone else has done this ride then any tips greatly appreciated.
I’m planning to travel light, bivvy touring and covering the distance in six or seven days, late May/early June. Cheers.

I’ve been out in Navarra doing the Pamplona San Sebastian Biarritz run with locals who took me over the pyrenees. You would need to ride out to Elizondo or further. check out the Camino de Santiago route information there are several routes and some follower a higher level rather than skimming the coast
