Fox 38 factory 29 inch forks £638
Well, that's just cost me 638 quid.
It's not what you spend it's what you save.
Well, that’s just cost me 638 quid
Sorry,but yep,cost me the same
The black ones would've been perfect for my HB916, but bought 29er lowers for my 36's and some pikes. For about 570.
Toss.
Is it corrwct that the way to change the travel is with a whoke new airspring that is c.£160?
Yeah. Seen them at about £80 occasionally on Facebook, but guess it depends on the travel you're after.
Phew. Had those in the basket all day, despite my Zebs being faultless, would have been a daft purchase.
RRP in Factory 38s is £708??
RRP 1349 or something ludicrous
New air shafts are around the £130 to £160 unless you can pick one up that someone has swapped out, Usually Pinkbike
Just swapped some around from a Turbo Levo onto daughters Enduro and upped the travel at the same time.
And they're all gone!

Yeah thought it was over £1k but couldn’t remember by how much. Make the listing slightly odd, might just be OEM stock (very likely) so confused things a bit

Nah, you throw the airspring in the bin and fit a coil

I am assuming they will come in a plain cardboard box, without instructions etc.

I'll let you know shortly - mine should turn up between 11:45 and 1245 today
Excellent! I didn't bother with next day as I've got the Rona and I feel too crap to ride anyway.
They've just arrived, they are the 2021 model and come in a plain box with no other bits except the manual.
Which is all fine by me for the price
How can you id what model year it is?
How can you id what model year it is?
The manual says 2021,and when you put the 4 digit Id code into the fox website it says 2021

With wiggle CRC its usually returns with stuff missing or box so damaged they fant be resold, OEM stock or stuff destined for non-uk markets.
Whats is know. In the car world as grey imports. But, as you say, for the price..!!

I think in this case it's just oem, it's just a fork in a plain box, steerer is uncut, no shock pump,no star fangled nut, no volume spacers etc.
Just seen this and would have been gutted about missing out as I'm going to mullet my ebike. Good job I picked up a pair of 2023 Zeb Ultimates for £630 last week!
Although I'm now waiting for a 160mm airspring to turn up from the States
Pricing error I think. Spotted them listed on ebay at 45% off, fully expected it to be cancelled which would have been fine but got a despatch confirmation within a couple of hours, checked again and they were back to £1120. Guess they decided to honour that one which was a result!
Top work! Enjoy!!
Well despite prwdicting a Fri delivery, mine came today. I got 2021 in a plain box with a manual. The look ace....i may need some guidance on what frame to put them on!
Mine arrived today. As above, they came in a plain box with a manual. Mine however, are e bike tuned. At first I was a bit miffed as my assumption was that this would mean they had a firmer compression tune. But, some digging in a fox q and a says that in fact the e tune is lighter, to compensate for the fact that e bikers are sat down more. Given that 38s are known to be on the firmer side, this might actually be a win.
Maybe i should check mine!!

They’ve tuned them for improved performance when mincing uphill??

Rob on emtb forums reckons the e tuned 38 feels better than the standard 38 regardless of what bike it's fitted to.
Seems odd to me that fox think ebikes need different damping to normal mtbs.
My cheap fox 38 were not the e tuned version ,
I had the first ride on them tonight, they seem really good, nice and sensitive on small stuff, composed and slightly more responsive in general compared to the fox 36 factory ebike forks they have replaced.
Mine are the e-bike kashima ones. Im fairly sure i will get a setting that i like for them, when i have bought a frame to go with them!
@julians thanks for the psa

But you don't mince do you? Because you're doing 25kmh the whole time! When I'm on the e bike, I am definitely going much faster on the chunky/rocky climb trail than on the regular bike, so I can sort of see the logic.
Here's a link to the article - https://theloamwolf.com/2020/07/28/fox-38-fork-review/
Was being flippant with the mincing part, but I’d still be wanting the tune for standing descending. Anyway, if it works it works

Agree, I wouldn't want to compromise the tune for climbs either. Hopefully a slightly lighter compression tune will suit me. I've already cut the steerer, so no going back now!
Thanks! I'll tell you tomorrow. Still just trying to kick the end of this COVID, but I'm off tomorrow and I'm riding come hell or high water!
A set of the 38 Factory forks popped up yesterday so I quickly ordered them. Still processing so hopefully goes through.
More fork than my skill level requires but better than having something that's not up to the job.
My 38s arrived yesterday. Good to see a bolt thru axle rather than the QR version.
No cable clamp though
I'll contact Wiggle and try and have one sent.
Can't wait to get them fitted, dropper service first though.
I finally got a decent ride on mine, but still suffering from post covid lung. The Fox recommended set up seemed way too stiff. I took out two (of 3) tokens, backed off the pressure and compression a touch and it now feels fantastic. Noticeably plusher than my Lyrik Ultimate, without using excessive travel. So first impressions are good.
Good feedback, only ridden mine up the road and back but did feel they were ramping up a bit much.
What size socket to remove the volume spacers?
It's a 32mm. Make sure you get one that's flat on the bottom. I got a Unior one that works well. When I had the Fox setup, I could really feel the ramp and was struggling to use much travel. For the kind of trails I ride this seems a much better setup.
@militantmandy my fork only came with two spacers installed but I removed one and dropped the pressure.
I'm about 12psi lower than the Fox recommendation, feels like a big step in the right direction.
I'm 79kg and currently 75psi.
First ride out and other than a bit of fine tuning they feel great. Very supportive and hold a line well.
