Blimey Cap’n if you didn’t have the little one there you could come round mine and watch it, save electrickery and all that. We seem to be watching the same things tonight.

I’m watching a programme about dark ages art on BBC4.

    😆

    So very Radio 4, Hammerite!

The girls are still in hospital, hopefully home tomorrow. I’m here with a Waitrose (natch) fakeaway meal for one and a bottle of Meantime IPA!

It’s great TV this. As was the other one we were talking about! 🙂 Long live the BBC! We really are very lucky to have it.

I reckon if I didn’t have kids I’d still kind of like this but without being able to connect with it. But seeing as I do have one of my own (2.25yrs) one can only marvel at the inventiveness of not only primary school teaching methods but also the behaviour/attitude/charisma of the kids.

Planet Thunk and the Mammoth Faeries rock!

A rather predictable story of cynicism to wringing endorsement. I thought I was going to puke.

Hope you enjoyed the meal Cap’n! Agree really good tv. I’ve spent about 6 hours watching free stuff on IPlayer on trains in the last week. All good stuff and all BBC.

Space monkey – my OH teaches bigger kids and I have to say she was sat there saying ffs, rapping as the school song, Planet Thunk etc….ridiculous. She did see the value though and said it’s a big shame that when they move up to secondary school teachers just don’t get the time to carry on things like that.

According to wiki Mr Gilbert’s parents were both teachers. So I guess he was aware to a degree what he was taking on.

@hammerite: similarly, my MIL is an ex-primary school teacher who quit because the fun and creativity had been taken out of it all. Discipline and targets were seen as more important 🙁

The aim of my post was to say that kids are amazing and that’s what we need to nurture.
