PSA – Llandegla not rideable, snow/fallen trees

I went up to Llandegla this afternoon. The access road was still about 6” of snow on it and the gates closed

I went for a ride , and managed to get to the main blue/red drag up. But many of the trails simply are not rideable . There has been just under 1ft of snow and many branches are down making the trails impassable.

Hopefully as the snow melts tomorrow they will be able to get up and start clearing, but there was a hell of a lot of stuff blocked.

Still I managed to get to the top , just !

Best place to check is Facebook – they’ve been updating that all day

If people are aware that’s what they have to  do. I looked at their website which has a latest conditions update banner on the front page ?

It’s the first place I go for updates or information from small businesses. I’m not there to socialize.

It’s not unreasonable to think this, especially cos there’s a prominent orange banner on the home page saying “Latest Trail Conditions”

The only way I found them on FB was clicking the FB icon on their website. If you just type “llandegla” into FB search it comes up with a pictures of people tagged at that location; they’re on FB as Oneplanet Adventure.

And when I finally got there and read the closure notice, in the comments below are people saying “can you post this info on your website too”.

You know, the website that people would have used to book hire bikes, skills coaching etc and is the first hit when you type “Llandegla MTB” into a search engine.

It’s the first place I go for updates or information from small businesses.

And I always check the date of their last posting, especially with camp sites and pubs. I guess a phone call is the best way to get the latest inf. But I hate phones!

I’m disappointed they didn’t update the website. In every other way they seem so proactive. They should at least say on their website please view out facebook for updates.

They’ve been lax with updating the trail conditions section of the website for years.

I turned up a couple of years ago and it was closed, but the website said fully open, it was only on checking their Facebook page that I found the true status.

It’s really out of order to have a section called latest trail conditions, but not actually update it. If they can’t be bothered to update the website they should just have a link to the Facebook page from there instead.

They could quite easily put a facebook / instragram widget on their website trail conditions page.

Maybe their comms is run by the owner’s mum?

Just a thought. My mum and her siblings are the only people I know who still go on FB.

(Tbf though, when the social team at work target parents of students, they use Facebook posts and ads, as it’s still a popular platform for the age group 45 – 65ish. Which is probably the age group of the average expensive bike rider. But still, its a poor show to have misleading info on your website).

Really, how? I live 30 mins away and we had snow, probably 5” or so, but it was all rideable . It was as though they had had a very local dumping

Quote a few ‘local’ people turned up whilst I was there all saying how good it is usually in the snow, and had no idea it was shut

Oh ok i assumed all of that dump was unrideable
