Having got rid of my 5 a few years ago and ridden a Soul ever since I am shortly getting a new FS, this time going for the light nimble version 🙂 . I have managed to get the most gopping coloured bike, but it’s all they come in (Anthem SX), so lets see some more pleasing on the eye ones !

I got one of these recently. Not exactly niche, but on the only trip out on it so far it proved to be a lot of fun and pretty fast too. 130/140mm which I think is classed as short travel now. Will be more fun for more of my riding than my 150mm FS it replaces, and I doubt I will be much slower anywhere (I am not a fast rider)

The only thing I can fault is the paint quality which looks worse after 6 months than my last bike did after 3 years.

The anthem SX irritates me, on the one hadn it looks so close to being perfect on the other, 615mm top tube with a 72deg seat angle and a 70mm stem? The seat angle makes sense with the dropper post, but the top tube needs to be at least an inch longer, if not two in each size to account for what’s lost in slackening the bike (about 10mm) and shortening the stem (about another 40mm)! Coupled with the kind of person buying the SX over the anthem doesn’t really want 20″+ frame sizes, I’m not even sure at 6ft I could get a reverb in a L even if it was long enough. Great idea, just needs more work.

tinas – I’m hoping the geometry works for me – the ETT is exactly same as my Soul, and the angles seem to work for me, such that reach, headtube etc all within a few mm of what fits me on a hardtail. same length stem also. Giant dropper that comes as standard seems ok in reviews..

I’ll know next week when it gets into the shop 🙂

The steeper head angle on the Nerve put me off Iain.

    My Vision and Spearfish.
The Vision is the bike I will keep forever. It’s always been my second best bike but has outlasted a Giant NRS,Scandal 29 and a Superlight 29.

Nope, it’s still gopping. If you put Subo in Sauchiehall street, she’ll still a melter, despite being surrounded by uglier melters… 😆

My 26er Specialized Camber. 120mm front and back. An exceedingly capable bike which feels like it has much more travel due to the long wheelbase.

Pretty standard stuff here but still a good bike,i am considering adding a dropper and 120mm forks but i may just wait and add a trance or specialized camber evo or similar to the stable later in the year.Love the sx though.

Why thank you sir, I’m pretty chuffed how she’s turned out. In answer to your questions:

21″ (I have big monkey arms and wanted to run a stubby stem.)

    650b Mavic Crossmax XL’s

    Fox 34’s Kashimax’s 130 mm travel.

    Bring on the haters,

100mm rear & I’m running 120/150 talas front, as standard it’s 100mm front & rear but I wanted to slacken it a bit more. I’ve never heard much about then, & TBH I still haven’t ridden it properly so can’t comment on the ride, I bought it based on the geometry & it does fit well when I spun it around the block.
looking forward to riding it in the summer.
