Yep that’s what I just checked. Their marshals will be confused though!

Cavedale is cack though, awash with walkers, slippery with blood and just messy. Can’t we do Dirtlow Rake and Pindale instead please… I volunteer to lead a splinter group for anyone else who shares my dislike of crappy Cavedale with its nasty slippy as soap wet limestone garbage surface… 😉

    What!! Cavedale is brilliant.

Assume you can clear it with ease?

I have to agree with bwd, Cavedale is full of fat walkers who think because they’re half a mile from the car they’re in the great outdoors, when in actual fact they are just in the way..!
And it is a nasty, slippy as soap wet limestone garbage surface

however I go where I’m told!!

Will come if I’m fit enough.

Route tbd, where the d means decided by me, not derided, discussed, debated, deemed useless, decried crap or disappointingly put down by you lot.

    So nerr.

    Suggestions welcome though

I’ll ride whatever is the route. I remember once before pook posted up a route and received numerous amendment requests..

Cavedale isn’t slippy though- its very grippy. Its the loose stone over the top of the limesrtone that is the scary stuff! Plus if skiprat goes his falls always have me in tears of laughter 😀

    pook,

e-mail’d you my current fave route to have a think about!!

Will is Hebden reachable on Sunday or just abit too far to drive?

Or…..Ladybower+Win Hill cheeky? We could also do the top of Parkin..

I think you’re missing the point. I simply don’t like it in the way I dislike celery, the very dull climb that comes out near Hope Brink and being savaged by badgers. I can do all those things, I just don’t want to. I realise that you espouse a sort of Nietzschean philosophy of mountain biking where difficulty is all and by transcending those difficulties, you attain some sort of higher level of being – at least in your own mind.

However, I suffer from none of these delusions. I simply enjoy riding my bike on nice trails and smiling and generally would rather blast down Dirtlow Rake and Pindale rather than mixing it with fat, dozy day-trippers stumbling up Cavedale and polishing the rock with their designed shell suits.

That said, I’m not telling anyone else what they should or shouldn’t like, though I think it’s telling that both Julian and Martyn agree with me, while the only person who supports your viewpoint is, erm, Hora. I rest my case 😉

    fair enough bwd, sounded genuine!

FWIW cavedale is a good one to show non-peaks folk IMO as its a bit different to the usual fare, pluse its only one brief section that people struggle with. the run down to it is quite a laid back laugh.

pook, currently working but if i can wriggle out of it then ill be there

I’m genuine in the sense that I think Cavedale’s rubbish, but I don’t mind riding it for a change.

This is the bit I most enjoy about pootles.

I always worry you lot are going to kill each other in the car park.

First part of Cavedale beats all of pindale hands down. Second part awakens you and makes you laugh at the bottom. 😀

I remember the first time I rode it. Winter pootle- everyone gathered around the battered gate and I arrived and thought sod stopping its freezin and entering it abit too quick and suddenly thinking ‘oh **** what is this’!!!
