Hi, newbie, first post: planning to do some Peak District (North this time) singletrack May Bank Holiday, can anyone recommend a good place to base please ? 4 of us, with bikes, ideally looking for a pub with B&B near some trails or a B&B near pub/food/trails, etc. Any recommendations ? Thanks, Brian p.s. last trip was weekend to Coed Y Brenin and trip before was Glentress weekend.

Hi,i would recommend the Hope Cafe and B&B in Hope. check out the Website: http://www.woodbine-hope.co.uk a really friendly place with excellent food and you can ride straight out on the trails. There’s also a pub 50 yards down the road.

Thanks, I was just looking at their website a few minutes ago. I have taken their phone number and will ring tomorrow. The 3 lads on the May trip were based around Castleton last time they went to Peaks and are hoping to find something more North this time. Is there anything to the West or South of Holmfirth, for example ?
I have just realised this site has a ‘search Forum’ facility, so I will also continue looking for past comments and recommends regarding Peak accomodation. Thanks, B

Wortley Hall about 11mile south east of Holmfirth is now offering bed and breakfast accomodation for £22.50 per night.
Wortley is a great location to stay, the cross country and downhill trails of Wharncliffe are less than 3 miles away. Cut Gate is just a few miles further down the road and the Peak District is only over the hill.
Add to that staying in a stately home complete with secure lock up facilities and room to fettle your bike you won’t be disappointed.
contact Wortley Hall reception on 0114 2882100 or visit the website – http://www.wortleyhall.org.uk

Just come back from 3 days at Wortley Hall (a few miles outside Sheffield) and had a great time. Thanks for recommendation. £22.50 for en-suite rooms with TV and a shower to shout about is great vale. Breakfast was top, just right for long days on trail. Fat Cat pub in Sheffield was good along with great Indian restaurant, name escapes me, unlicensed so take your own beer/wine place. Great. The trails were good too, though found we were going South alotfor the better ones. Thanks for recommending Wortley Hall, perfect timing as I was minutes away from booking the Hope Cafe. We rode the Hope trails as it happened and good they are too. Cheers, Brian from Norwich
