    this one

Looking at replacing my Vango one and like the look of these. It will be used for car camping, generally a few weekends per summer, me and the kids – 2 boys, 8 and 12 (wife gets a break 🙂 ) . I like a decent porch and standing headroom.

Have had a look at the Decathlon and GoOutdoors offerings but not seeing much that compares favourably.

Keen for feedback on them, or any good alternatives that I have missed.

    Thanks

Not tried that one but we have a Montana 6. Bought it second hand and it’s been well used but the quality is excellent so I’d recommend Outwell as a brand based on this one tent.

They do need a lot of boot space though! As well as the large roller bag it’ll come in it will have a heavy pole bag with lots of steel poles, ours also came with the carpet, footprint, and a massive bag of pegs all of which take up more space.

If we go for a weekend our Touran is so full the dog gets consigned to the passenger footwell. (lots of food and beer also mind!). Oh, and it takes two to put it up, shouldn’t be a problem with 8 and 12 year olds though.

thanks for info. This one packs a bit smaller than the Montana ones and has fibreglass poles :

    Pack size:
    30 x 74 cm
    Weight:
    14.6 kg
    Poles:
    Duratec fibreglass 8.5/11.0/12.7 mm

We’ve hand three outwell tents over the years, not had a complaint with any of them…

It looks like the replacement for the Nevada M which I’ve had for a few years and it’s been a good tent. Plenty of space for the 3 of you.
Quick and easy to put up so long as the kids can help you. Might be worth a practice in the garden before going.

If you can get an extension for it they worthwhile in wet weather so that you’re not bring mud in the tent.

For another £70 you could get the Nevada M from that site for the same package (tent, goundsheet and carpet) and benefit from a slightly larger tent and a 2nd entrance which is great when it’s raining or windy.

If any good, I’ve a Outwell Toronto 400 tent I no longer use. It’s an excellent tent but its too big for my needs and only been used for one five day trip last year. It’s a bit hefty though and weighs quite a bit!

I’ve got a Rockwell 3. Only managed to test erect it in the back garden late last year so not used it in anger, but I was very impressed with the build quality and little things like power cable holes. I think it’ll be a great tent for me and my lad.

We have a Montana too. I know not the same model but I’d buy another Outwell model based on our experience of the Montana…

Happy with mine, which I bought last year. The thing that swung the choice in that direction was a visit to GoOutdoors on a rainy day, the Rockwell interior was noticeably dryer than other tents we were looking at. It’ll be roomy enough for the 3 of you.

Seventyfive, thanks for offer, but fancy either rockwell 5 or Montana M

Si77 – I like the big airy porch on the rockwell, in practise is it ok in the wind ? Looks like it could catch it like a sail vs Montana which looks like it would flow over it more..

I would be aware that those poles will be less stiff than a steel poled Montana etc.
