One Up Dropper v2 Lateral Play?

can anyone with a one up v2 do me a favour please and check to see if they have any lateral (up/down) play on the post please?

when its fully extended i have no lateral play at all – just the usual side to side wiggle (normal), but as soon as i drop the post anywhere in its travel, the post itself has play where i can lift it up by the saddle or the shaft itself about 1-2mm, this is free play so when im descending with it lowered it is moving up and down this amount itself, i dont remember it doing it from new and its now sounding rather awful descending as you can hear it clattering up and down this 1-2mm any time im riding anything rough etc

so is it normal and its something else causing the noise? or does your one up have this lateral play? id kind assumed it should be solid like it is at the top of the extension

Waggle yes but I haven’t noticed any up and down play at all.

It will be on a stop at the top of the travel so isn’t relying solely on the clutch mechanism.  Sounds like you may have an issue with that. I’ve no idea what it looks like but I’d ask the question of One Up and see what they think.

I have had some vertical / axial play on mine.  It was simple to cure.

Remove the seat clamp and look under the air valve.  There’s a special nut that threads on and holds the cartridge into place inside the top shaft of the post.  The nut can be tightened with needle nose pliers.  Snug it down the rattle should stop.

Speak to one up, their customer service is awesome, I’ve always found them to be very helpful and quick to respond

Out of interest, how much side to side play is normal for one of these posts? Mine has a few mm each way and was going to email oneup. But after reading this assume it might be normal?

prezet – mine has loads of ‘waggle’ too – seems pretty normal for these

A couple of degrees is very normal for just about any dropper post

Rotational play may be reduced with an oversize pin kit

I had “quite a lot” and fitted the biggest pins straight away and had “less but still a bit”.

If there was too little play it means the keys fit tight in the slots so there would be more friction and maybe more wear.
