How does that front mech work. Looks like quite a big gap in chainring sizes…..

I am disappointed to read he is not from the motherland but actually Swiss. Not sure how well that little empty feeling of disappointment translates here.

Correct. Phillipe Perakis if I recall from 94 or 95. Don’t know if it did him any good.

Now wonder that guy in the op is wearing a full facer, you wouldn’t want to be spotted riding around on that by anyone you knew. 😳

On the other hand i quite like that GT 😕

Please God let this look come back. Let it sweep through the ranks of trendy fixie riders like a fashion wildfire.

nah, I’m not that bloody weird! (and a lot tubbier)

That was at the roadside in Morzine a few years ago, in plain view of loads of people – and he asked me to take it & climbed over a little fence to get there & pose 😯

(I do have a roost guard though – I could be Mr January in the “STWers out of their depth” calendar)

Philip Perakis, I was wracking my brain trying to remember who he was. I recognized the photo. I believe he was the first downhiller to wear Dianese armour, and he had a custom-made suit, IIRC, which is what he’s wearing in the pic. 3D violet anodizing as well. Ah, those were the days…
[edit] oh, and there was probably not much more than 80mm of travel on that thing, too. Bret Foes had a bike around then with 6″ of rear travel, when 3″ was the best anyone offered from a front fork.[/edit]

Nice one walleater, 23″ (IIRC) of plush rear wheel travel, BB height probably means it does not “corner like its on rails” and with a head angle looking about 80degrees may be a handful going downhill – or downtheshops for that matter.

Of course, there’s no chance that in 10 years people will look back on what we’re wearing now and deem it ridiculous. No sir.

That’s correct Mr_A. Fashion history ended with the Singletrack Pink Camo short-sleeved shirt, worn with a gold Xen helmet, baggy endura 3/4 lengths and phat skate shoes. 🙂

It is indeed, I had one briefly (got nicked) and thought it was cool but I was a dumb kid. I see one locked up round the corner from work quite often.

I think the “one neon pink glove” thing is a trend with legs. 😀
