Ok, I may well be being thick here l, but please humour me! Looking around for a second hand frame to suit my 140mm revs, and a 456 seems to fit the bill.

I’ve seen a few on here and a couple of other websites, but a lot of the ads are for 456’s but the photos seem to show ‘inbred’ badged on the frame. I looked at the on one website and they’re marked as up to 120mm max travel rather than the 150mm the 456 can cope with.
Am I missing something here, or are the names interchangeable?

Some 456’s are badged as Inbreds. The only way to tell for sure is to look at the top tube / seat tube / seat stay junction. On the 456 the seat stays meet the seat tube at the same place as the top tube. On a standard inbred, the seat stays meet the seat tube approx 3/4″ above the top tube.

And the inbred is not suitable for 140mm forks, right? So i need to make sure it’s a 456?

Right. Older Mk1 inbreds are 100mm max, mk2 (2011 ish onwards) are 120mm.

It’s worth considering SOME early 456s were badged as Inbreds. The same was done with the Ti model.
