Just building up a 2006 Spesh FSR Stumpjumper, but there only appears to be one gear cable routing under the downtube. There is another cable route but just for a tie cable, not a gear cable (in my experience). Also under the BB shell there is only a plastic router thing to the front derailleur, when I had an Epic there was routing for the rear as well. Am I missing something here? Thanks Martin

I had a similar issue when routing my spesh….the answer is the cable is exposed from 1 0f the 2 cable routing lugs near the top tube all the way down through the plastic thing under the BB and into the front mech.

I then bodged the cable routing for the rear gear cable in a similar fashion to the brake hose (i.e.around the shock) using cable ties so that I could run a full length cable to the mech.

    hope that helps

I’ve got the first bit OK; it’s the same as on the Epic, but it can’t be right that there are no proper gear cable bosses – I’m doing as you did bodging it using cable and zip ties, but it’s difficult to get them tight enough to stop the plastic ends pulling through 🙁

Take a full length cable to the rear mech just zip tie the cables to the frame…

For the front mech there is only a short length of full gear cable from the shifter to the first boss near the down tube. from there it is all exposed cable to the mech. ie no outer from the front mech to the boss near the down tube. and inner and outer from the boss to the shifter

If your still struggling drop me a mail and I will get some photos to you.

My 05 had a cable stop just in front of the BB shell from which a short length of outer ran to another on the underside of the chainstay. From there, exposed cable to another stop close to the dropout from which an outer would run to the mech.
