I’ve had a Nilfisk Pressure Washer since 2020.

Something inside is faulty. When you switch it on it automatically starts running, and then when you pull the trigger there is pressure but not full pressure.

If you pull the trigger and switch it on you get full pressure, but as soon as you let go of the trigger it doesnt switch off.

Some form of pressure switch ??

Anyhow it appears that Nilfisk do not have spares, does anyone know where you can get spare parts from who could also possibly diagnose over the phone.

I am thinking these machines are no more repairable than any other brand !

    Thanks

It could be the trigger switch which is an easy fix. Does someone you know have a similar hose gun that you can try?

The internal pressure switch is more difficult to remove but a dealer would be able to do that

Not sure if I have confused things. When you switch it on the motor starts working straight away but no water comes out of the trigger.

When you pull the trigger water comes out at slightly higher pressure than normal.

I would try to borrow another hose gun first, it is the easiest thing to rule out

Try North West Power washers, seem to have a load of parts diagrams online.

I have something similar if I drain the washer. Next time I use it the motor just runs until I pull the lance trigger. Usually cuts out after I release the trigger though, I assumed it was an airlock.

    My Nilfisk startup process:

    Turn on tap

Pull trigger until machine is primed

    Release trigger

    Turn machine on.

If you are anywhere near NG22 feel free to bring it over to try my house gun.

Mine has started to pulse rapidly when you release the trigger, still seems to work fine, it’s just a really annoying sound! I’m guessing it’s either leaking after the pump and causing the pressure to drop, or the pressure switch?

Mine stopped working completely end of last summer, just wouldn’t switch on. I called the closest Nilfisk repair centre (listed in their website) and he said the model I had (C?) wasn’t worth looking at. Was pretty annoyed. But I lived without it for a few months and before binning it I tried it once more – it worked. Great story? Anyway, call one of their repair centres for advice is probably my message.

TBH they maybe weren’t wrong with that- I had an older one which I’m pretty sure I could have fixed, but getting a refurb from the factory store was so cheap that I couldn’t look past it- got a better washer but also new hose, gun, attachments etc. I’d rather repair than replace generally but all that stuff has a lifespan anyway.

When mine stopped working properly I was told to first run it through without the washers hose, then with the hose but no lance, then the lance. Basically, a little bit of dirt must have been blocking something because it started working properly again. Certainly worth a try.

    Thanks for the further updates.

I have tried the flushing out stuff and it made no odds. I will however try the ‘switch on’ process described above.

Lots more ringing around and eventually got through to a human at Nilfisk.

They have said most likely a £25 part. I can send the machine at my expense to an authorised repairer who will charge £60 to look at it + parts. plus I will have to pay postage, which on a 17kg big pressure washer is not going to be cheap.

Or I could order the part myself and try and repair myself , or accept all pressure washers are sh!t and a re just throwaway items and buy the same machine brand new again for £130 !

Not sure if this applies to Nilfisk, but I had similar issues with a Karcher 620m that was given to me last week by a neighbour who was going to chuck it. I looked online and saw instructions to remove and clean the spill valve. 30min job and very straightforward. Washer now works perfectly! If you can get to the valve, it might be worth removing and giving a clean, removing scale and then grease the orings.
