would you have more than one ring at the front on a DH freeride bike, i wouldn't. In that instance whats the little nob for then.

the nob's for the front mech fitment i believe although looking at it, i don't see how it'd fit ?

If you look carefully at the stub behind the seat tube, you can see a small black dot. My guess is that this is a small threaded hole, into which you screw in an optional tube over which you can mount a front mech.

Would probably be right given Nicolais preference for doing things complicated when there a perfectly simple solution…

Looks like a Helius, probably rides like one…A bit un-involved

I suppose there could be some kind of e type adaptor that bolts into the two holes behind the nob and the one at the top. Cant see what else they would be there for the frame would fill up with water if these were left open.

i_ache – the holes at the rear of the ST are bearing preloaders for the pivot bearings – nicely engineered, eh 😀

    nickc – un-involved……?

Yeah, mine was. Lovely bike an' all, but you know? 6+ inches of travel, made everything just a bit, I dunno, easy? Just have to aim it at stuff, and away it goes, it's like being permanently on autopilot.

Sounds like you need to ride rougher trails

Yeah, after going to the Alps on steel hardtails for all those years, you could imagine my disappointment. 🙂

Kirroughtree was so much more fun on my Chameleon.

Totems and a Hammeredschit and it would make a great Megavalanche bike – especially the qualifier. Agree it's complete overkill for UK riding though.
