2 tone leather (orange and black) is not a good look,at least the Orange leather matches your bike.
Make sure they replace the missing centre cap in your back wheel as well.

mboy seems to be on a one-man crusade to berate Audi drivers on the Internet (especially if they ride an Orange). They are decent cars, which makes them popular, which means a percentage are driven by idiots, which means in his book we are all idiots.

hahaha, you really do choose what bits you want to and what you don’t. I really like Audi’s on the whole, it’s just these days they are the new BMW in that they’re usually being driven by a rep at 95 in the fast lane, by someone who is late for an accident (or business meeting). In that respect they are the new BMW’s… And FWIW, I’ve owned an A4 recently and I loved it, just had to sell it cos it was starting to cost too much to keep on the road. My Dad had one of the very first A5 coupe’s (not the stupid saloon version) in the country, very nice car if a little lacking in steering feel.

Does mboy like black BMW 5 series touring – I have one and its great for transporting my new bikes!

Oh the irony… My favourite car I’ve ever owned was my old E34 540i touring, I bloody loved that car, sadly couldn’t afford to run it when I got made redundant for the first time. Aside from the fact it had a 4 litre V8 and went like stink, with the rear seats folded flat, you could get a bike in without so much as removing a single wheel! It had full sports leather interior too, and was a rare 6 speed manual.

    Bet he has a vauxhall.

Good god no man, I draw the line before that! I’ve got an old banger of an LPG fuelled Mondeo at the moment, I got it cos I’m V poor at the moment and it’s V cheap to run. If/when I get a good job and a decent income again, it’ll probably be a late model E46 330D Touring for me but that’s not likely to happen any time soon.

To point out the irony of having a go at Audi/Orange owners. It’s not that I dislike Audi’s, far from it, but as someone who has owned and driven one in the time when they are VERY much the in car for reps right now (generally meaning like they get driven within an inch of their life all the time), just as BMW’s used to be (when I also owned a BMW). I know people that would turn their nose up at you just cos you drive an Audi, and 5/6 years ago they’d have done the same if you drove a BMW. It’s a stereotype that goes with the car.

The thing is, in owning an Audi (seen as being highly aspirational currently by onlookers) and an Orange 5 (it is THE aspirational Mountain Bike seemingly if internet forums, and Trail Centre carparks are anything to go by), it’s the stereotype image you’re conforming to that makes me chuckle. Audi’s, for the mostpart, aren’t driven by people who know much about them, or care much for cars beyond brand snobbery. BMW’s used to be (and I suppose still are to some extent), very much the same. I am, or was, one of the world’s biggest petrol heads and could sit and spend hours chatting about why I loved my old BMW, and what it was about it that excited me, whereas the average current BMW or Audi driver would probably only be able to tell you about the service quality at their local dealership, certainly not anything important about how it handles or goes. And to a large extent, Orange 5’s seem to be quite similar. From what it seems like to many onlookers, they’re often bought by people fairly new to the sport. They’re not bad bikes at all, but they’re often owned by people who bang on about them all the time as if they’re the best thing since sliced bread, when in reality, there’s plenty of other bikes that are as good, or better for the money.

It’s a badge snob thing basically… If I felt an Orange was the best bike for me, I’d have one (if I could afford it), same as I felt my old Audi and BMW’s were the best for me at the time.

Buy/drive/ride what you like, if you’re so upset by someone taking the pee slightly out of a stereotypical image (that you conform to) on the internet, I suggest you need to work hard on your self image if it’s that fragile! 😕

Sadly tonight, you’re right… Was supposed to be on a date but she’s got food poisoning apparently! 😕

I’d normally agree by the way, but have seen how much you’ve been posting on here lately, I KNOW you’ve got time to read it all… 😉

How do people afford these cars?!?

It’s not just about affording them, it’s about wanting to spend the money on that in particular… A girl in my office saved up for years for her mini, she doesn’t earn an awful lot but she made it work. She probably lives in a bin, mind.

OTOH I could afford it, but instead I drive a shagged-out diesel focus estate, because flash cars are boring. They don’t weave through corners as amusingly, you don’t feel comfortable driving them across a plowed field or up a freshly-shelled forest road, and when you drive them into your house you feel quite bad about it.

    Nice car… Nice bike…

I wouldn’t personally, though if you hate yourself that much you wanna end it all still, and the Giant is a medium, I’ll send you my details so you can alter your will… 😉

Calm down mboy – its just a commercial! Just like you my favourite ever cars/ bikes have been the ones I could afford at that point in time. Try not to get wound up by what other people have and just enjoy what you got 😀

Here in lies a good point… Same as I used to spend all my money on cars, then motorbikes, these days I’d rather spend any money I had on Mountain Bikes (and getting to cool places to ride) than either. Just can’t enjoy flash cars or fast bikes these days, not on the roads. And then there’s trackdays, and quite frankly you need to be silly rich to even think of having a go at that! I’ve done one, bought it as a 30th for my mate and we went together. £150 to get on track, chewed through £80 of fuel (£40 on track, £40 there and back), about £100 worth of tyres and brakes… Mountain bikes are more fun on the whole still, and a whole lot more affordable.

I’m not wound up, brycey was! Without prompt, he’s posted several posts on a couple of threads seemingly confused why I’m on a one man mission against Audi’s and Oranges, so I felt the air needed clearing as I was just having a bit of a laugh!

OK, I’ll hang in there then. Or maybe I’ll just go for a ride on my GS

Thanks mboy – its just a bit of banter after all. My budget is a bit tight as well 😉

Tomorrow I will be heading out onto the trails on my horse and cart with a Halfords Apollo FSR (Closest I could find to an Orange 5 and just as bulky!) 😆

mboy, I just find the amount you’ve written on the subjects across the two threads a bit strange. You’ve made a lot of assumptions in the process as well, but they aren’t worth losing sleep over, so we’ll agree to disagree and both drive/ride off in to the sunset.

I think the fact that they willingly spent way over the odds for a Skoda in drag says all you need to know about Audi drivers.

I’ve also only just noticed that those appear to be Orange Blood’s strapped to the top of your Audi Brycey, and not Orange 5’s…

In which case, fair do’s, the Blood is a V nice machine and I don’t understand why they stopped making it… May be too many Pivots for existing Orange customers to handle! 😉

Was chatting to one of the lads at Orange about it recently, they just didn’t sell unfortunately. It’s probably not an everyday bike in the UK (though mine is), and as the UK’s presumably their biggest market the Five took the sales by the looks of things. IMO.
