Never saw myself having a Specialized but the Pitch seems alot of bike for the money and looks fun, had to change some bits around this afternoon but looking forward to seeing how it rides tomorrow, nudges just over 30lbs.

nice, like the blue, did it come with HR’s on? what are the strokers like?

No it came with Specialized Enka or something, but by all accounts they are not all that so swapped them for a preferred tyre. Early indications (round the block on the road) stokers are good feel plenty powerful and modulated, see what they are like tomorrow.

druidh – it came with White pikes not much I can about that 🙂 Be fine once they are muddy 🙂 Assuming you are not liking the white pikes then?

Still it’s got a bit of red, white and blue so it’s patriotic!!

Thought it’s looks more purple than blue in daylight and not flashlight.

Nah – I WANT the white pikes!!!

Swap you for some boring silver? 😉

druidh – oh I see, they are specialized OEM Pikes no motion control though they have u-turn and are coil. I’ll keep the white thought I like them if a little bright as they are so clean 🙂

The electric blue looks sweet! I’ve got white revs on my orange – not sure white is a colour for mountain bikes tbh, they look instantly dirty and I’m anal about cleaning 🙁

Prefer the blue of the Comp to the brown Pro tbh.Great bike for the cash aswell,no 2 ways about it.That said I had a Pro on order 2 weeks ago but cancelled it after a great deal came up on a Trance – still got pangs for a Pitch though..

Just for those who dont know – The RRP on the pro is £1170ish, and on the comp shown here, about £970.
    For the whole bike.

One of only 3 models IIRC to have gone down for 09 by Specialized. Astonishing value IMO.

Spesh have allegedly sold all Pro’s until September now ? or so I heard.

That may well be true. Certainyl run out at my work, and at the rate there selling I assume we woiuld have ordered more if we could.

Amazing what a few reviews can do – its been available for well, well over a year, never a big seller. Till the mags got hold of it…

I couldn’t get a pro as they had sold out!!

I’ve seen a range of different RRP’s for both models not entirely sure the official numbers.

Still it’s good value even with a few bits I didn’t have in the parts box to do the as I wanted it build, proof will be in ride,

There are some neat touches too. the braided gear cables, screw in cable holders and the supplied chainstay guard. small things but again great for the price.

Hope I don’t wake up to snow in the AM and then can’t ride 🙁

Was able to ride but only a 10mile loop around Swinley, initial thoughts

    Good
    Handling
    Agility
    How it glides over roots
How it goes round berms like rails
How stiff the front end feels
Back end doesn’t bob on climbs

    Not so good
Feels a little hard work on the ups (not that I am fast up anyway!!)
Low Bottom Bracket?/Pedal Strikes were noticeable (might need to get used to riding FS again)
Need to spend some more time before I decided on the rear shocks ability

But importantly did a couple of runs down the Labyrinth trails Left Left and Left Right to those that know it and it felt good.

Look forward to spending a bit more time with it.

Get used to the low bb, you will adapt your riding pretty quickly.
Just sit and spin up the climbs, it’s not the lightest bike but it will get up nearly anything but never going to be the quickest bike uphill.
Heading to Swinley tomorrow, what are the conditions like at the moment?

I think it will take a couple of rides to get back in to the low BB thing my Five had the same at times.

Swinley was ok I kept to what I would call the lefthand side over towards the jump gully, it was muddy in places but not as bad as yesterday, but it’s quite churned in places so plenty of grooves!!

But the mud was more frozen onto the bike so it didn’t need a clean 🙂

Swinley is no place to test the legs of a Pitch…. Take it somewhere with some rocks, roots and drops and fling it down some hills!
    🙂

Don’t disagree PeterPoddy, it wasn’t until I took the Dialled Alpine to Scotland that I realised how good it was.

I shall be taking the Pitch to Wales next week and Scotland later in the year 🙂

I think I shall be taking mine to the Marin Next weekend, plenty of rocky things there.

I’m very tempted to change the X-Fusion jobbie for a DHX Air 4.0 though

Those white forks look really gash.
