I thought Polar was OK, it’s OTT and the assassin characters are dire but overall quite enjoyed watching it.
Watching the second series of Star Trek Discovery has just reminded how much I hate the Netflix grain effect you see in a lot of the 4K/HDR stuff. There seems to be debate on whether it’s due to compression, the original filming or a post-production effect, if the latter then whoever came up with it needs burying alive – I can understand it could add something to a certain type of film but in something like Discovery on the ship which is supposed to be all clean and modern/sharp it’s just distracting. I hate it in the Marvel series stuff to but more because in a lot of dark scenes it becomes very noticeable to.
