I enjoyed it but felt like it was rushed. I assume they didnt have lots of footage as the lack of support at the beginning with no-one believing he could do it. Feels likes if you had enough footage there should be an episode per mountain so as not to belittle the achievements, showing the route taken etc.

Incredible achievement though – how they did it that quickly and not fail any summits is amazing.

Lasted half an hour of Maid, wet monday evenings are grim enough without suffering that.

I crapped myself when I saw that overhanging ice cliff on K2, god knows how they must’ve felt seeing it!

    Outlaws
Brilliant film about teenage bank robbers in 1978 Gerona.
I love what’s coming out of Spain just now (Errementari ) and this one’s a cracker.

    Started on cowboy bebop
I have high hopes as the original is magic.

Watched 2 Netlix films yesterday, not sure if they’ve been mentioned. Mini-reviews follow:

“Villain” – not the 1970s Richard Burton classic, or a remake, but a more up to date, bloke comes out after a long stretch, gets back in trouble, violence ensues type deal. Pretty enjoyable, if you were a fan of The Sweeney back in the day. That kind of grittiness. Some really tense moments… I enjoyed it, though it was a bit humourless.

“The Power of the Dog” – Jane Campion directed western. Ads all over IMDB, so thought it’d be my sort of thing. It was. Although quite slow, sort of film should be watched at the cinema, so you can get absorbed in the landscapes. Cumberbatch is good in the lead (I can usually take or leave him) and the story is very good. Subtly done. Recommended.

    @chakaping

Might give that a go, but is it very depressing?

It might be for those struggling with med-dependent conditions. However, like @uponthedowns says, it sucks you in because of how PP and the FDA operated. That’s enough of the spoilers, and I’d also suggest not not Googling the topic in advance. 5 episodes available at the mo, with a new one every Wednesday.

Watching ‘F for family’. Been mentioned somewhere before on here. Pretty funny. Animation reminds me of ‘King of the hill’.

Sky Atlantic got a good couple of programmes going – American Rust with Jeff Daniels. Lots of different plot threads, really interesting.
And Yellowjackets. Girls’ soccer team survives a plane crash…

Coming home in the dark, a very dark and cold yarn, well worth a watch in my opinion.

Just watched The Rescue on Disney +, well worth a watch. Really insightful into what the guys on the ground were thinking. (Documentary detailing the rescue of the 13 Thai kids in the cave from a few years back)
Even my 12 year old daughter watched it with me, and she didn’t even touch her phone for the 2 hours, that’s some sort of record.

Yeah The Rescue is worth a watch, it gave a lot more insight than I’d seen before into just how bad the conditions were in the cave. Commendable honesty to about wanting to give up.

I’ve found Dopesick very watchable – and outrageous obvs. Ta to whoever on here recommended that.

Very late as I was never fussed in the first place, but just watching Mandalorian as we got Disney+ for something else. Was really hoping for something darker and grittier. I know I know, it’s Disney and Star Wars.

On Netflix, Biking Borders. Two best friends start off on a journey from Berlin to Beijing.

It’s in German with subtitles but easy to watch and some proper harsh conditions.

    Enjoyed shadow & bone.

Currently rewatching the Witcher S1 ready for S2. Brilliant series.

Cannot wait for the book of boba fett, the mandalorian was epic.

    Dopesick on Disney is fantastic.

Lots of well drawn characters and strong story arcs as big pharma goes all opioid with pain killers across several time frames – as a legal case is brought against the manufacturer Perdue.

Been mentioned before but we’ve really enjoyed Animal Kingdom, 2 episodes left to watch of season 5 . Season 6 apparently ready for release next year.

Disney is disappointing these days, the Star Wars stuff is pretty bland and the mcu stuff the same, guess it was always going to be child friendly stuff, but it’s just killing off the whole thing, watching Hawkeye, Loki or Wanda is just all much of muchness, you’d think they’d learn their lesson with too much politics/woke/pc stuff, but each series seems to push it more.

Also saw villain on Netflix, god that was awful, was told it was good, but it was poorly acted and just stealing plot lines from other Brit movies like layer cake and Ritchie movies

I’m puzzled, where was the ‘wokeness’ in those Marvel series? I remember a bit of political allegory in Falcon + Snowman, but that’s about it.

    Anyone watching YellowStone?

Yes, we absolutely love it. Though in the UK we’re slow to get it.

    Prime for 1&2 and Blu-ray for S3.

    Proper pulpy neo-western.

Taylor Sheridan is a fantastic writer/Director.

Can’t wait for 4, and I don’t want any spoilers.

Agree on this take. They were always going to milk Star Wars/Marvel way too much. The TV spin-offs of said material are like own-brand coke.

However Disney is now hosting other channels and more mature material.

    See Dopesick as mentioned.

Looks good. Love a decent western.

Anyone watching Landscapers? 2 great actors, not sure if the story will keep my interest what with all the other series going on at the mo.

After all the rave reviews I was a bit underwhelmed, but still worth a watch and at 4x 45 min episodes it’s not a huge commitment compared to most.

Stathams new film on Prime is decent brain out suff

The Grand Tour’s new one on Prime, meh, better than Lochdown. Wished Richard Porter actually spoke and had more of a role

Watched The Unforgivable (Sandra Bullock) the other night.

Didn’t really fancy it but thought it was a great film.
