I think unless there’s some sort of right dispute (eg The Expanse which was on Netflix but now isn’t) then they just stay there.

Not Netflix, but The Capture on BBC is bloody good stuff right now.

it doesn’t look so bad now in the time of reality tv…

Er, so I should watch some reality TV so that Baywatch looks good? Don’t think I’ll bother, but thanks for the tip 😆

Do big movies have a shelf life on Netflix? I keep trying to watch Bladerunner and not finding time.

I think there’s a definite shelf life for some of them. I’ve noticed things disappearing and reappearing.

So, to answer your question, all those moments WILL be lost in time, like tears in rain.

I watched the latest version of Robin Hood, it was awful, but, I couldn’t turn it off for some reason.

The last great film of the decade?

    Hope so.

Will really try and get to the limited cinema release for this. This cast and story is big screen though.

    3.5 hrs long!

Glitch is back on with new series 3, plus last 2. Bonkers as ever, really enjoying it

    Did anyone mention Top Boy?

Very good UK grime drama, someone told me it’s “like a British version of The Wire” but I’d say it’s much more like Gomorrah.

    In tone and content.

Binged the whole series of Living With Yourself at the weekend. It really quite good.

Just finished season 2 of Mindhunter. Think Season 1 was slightly better but both really interesting

The Politician – by the makers of Glee, Nip/Tuck and Scream queens.

Dark, odd and the ending is a clear ramp up for season 2. It’s crazy, but I enjoyed it.

Keep meaning to watch it – I notice there’s a film as well though, which should I watch first?

    WW2 in colour

Brilliant little series that will more than likely teach the average punter some things about the war that they didn’t know. Particularly the build up to the greater conflict.

Is there? There were two older series from C4 and a new one on Netflix. All on Netflix now.

    I can’t find anything about a movie.

Start with Top Boy Summerhouse S1.

Am giving Succession a go, due in part to the love for it here, and also in the wider media from those whose opinions I tend to agree with.

I’m two episodes in and not that impressed. Tell me it’s worth sticking with? 😐

Tell me it’s worth sticking with?

I thought it was brilliant, but it was basically cringe-comedy a lot of the time. A lot of the episodes just involved a bunch of really unpleasant people locked in a room being nasty to each other.

That’s what I’m getting at. I can take a certain amount of that but all (sorry, most) of the characters seem to turn into walking clichés. I struggle to connect with a bunch of characters who I just want to see die in a freak building collapse (they’re all still in the hospital at the moment). Perhaps I’m missing something. I’ll stick with it for another episode or two.

Basically, as season 1 goes on, you see more and more clearly what an absolute monster the father is. The kids are horrible, but it’s because of how horribly their father (and mother) have treated them. Kendall challenges his father for control of the company (because the father is quite obviously ill), but by the end of season 2, Kendall has been reduced to a hollow shell of a person. He walks and talks, but there isn’t really a person left inside the emptied out husk.

Arctic is now on Netflix. Reviewed it a while back on here. One of the best films of 2019.

Scandi (Norwegian) ‘Nobel’ has, two episodes in, been very good. I’ve liked pretty much everything Aksel Hennie has been in.

Enjoyed both Arctic and Replicas albeit for different reasons.

No mention of ‘The King’ yet? Henry V, battle of Agencourt. Slow paced but good film reminisent of BBC Dramas of old before they went full retard. Joel Edgerton did a great job writing and trying to keep it real, especially his accent.

Yeah when he’s not up he’s own arse he can actually act.

I would recomend you dont watch topboy. I found it repulsive the way the exploitation on kids and ruining of lives by drugs for money way sort of glossed over as normal and the characters doing it presented as some kind of heros. And I watch anything usually but that just grates so badly.
The king was a great watch recently if you like that sort of thing.

I hear what you say about drugs etc silverneedle (??), and I’m sure if I was a black british actor I’d feel at least conflicted about getting cast in Top Boy (loads of parts for strong and complex characters, woo hoo; mainly drug dealers, doh). For me sure it’s a slightly guilty watch. Having brought three kids up round some of the locations – nice to see they still sell emaciated chickens on Ridley Road – I’d say it’s not a totally invented world it’s set in, it is good drama and a good production. Just be good to see the actors getting parts across the board.

I’m watching Top Boy as well, really enjoying it and it strikes a cord with me. When I first moved over here I worked for a major computer company doing warranty work and that area was my patch. I hated going in those tower blocks. To be fair to the residents I never had a problem but the walk in was always a bit of a worry.

I understand what Silverneedle says but for some people that’s their reality. It is a London based Wire though.

I watched The King this week, it was pretty good. Not fully Shakespeare-y but enough to feel high-brow with some good action scenes.

I’d post a link to a trailer, but work has restricted mode enabled on you tube…

the characters doing it presented as some kind of heros.

I’m pretty sure that was not the intention, and certainly not how I read it.

I’m intrigued as to how. Is it actually funny?

I’d say K Method isn’t laugh out loud. It’s just a well produced portrayal of ageing which I think shows the humour associated with things e.g. prostates, age gap relationships, death.

You may be right, the French are not happy:

I watched this at the weekend and have mixed feelings. Very well made and absorbing but it was just a bit too grim for me. I know it’s not perhaps the point of it but I would’ve like to see more on his life and how he ended up there at the start and more of a conclusion as well.

Finally got around to binge watching Top Boy over the weekend, good recommendation (although I wish I’d noticed Chakaping’s note to watch the older Summerhouse series first – doh)

    Totally disagree with:

I don’t think it glamorised it in anyway nor made heroes of the main characters. They were all shown to be in a generally very shit situation and any ‘victory’ was fleeting at best. Whilst drugs and violence are the norm in the show that’s just because that’s the situation it’s set in, it’s not glossing over things
