Just wanted to shout this from the rooftops.

My 7 year old finished his 3 year 3 month treatment for leukemia today!!
He’s buzzing, I’m buzzing, the Mrs is buzzing, it’s nice to know we can go back to being the ‘normal’ family we should be.

It’s been extremely tough, emotionally, trying to be normal for the other two, worrying, bouts of depression, arguments with the Mrs, upheaval, pressure at work, infections along the way, it goes on……

But it’s also been positive in a way?!?!?

We’ve/the community have raised a fair bit in ‘his’ name, bag packing, community fun days, cycling Cardiff to holyhead, running the London marathon, the Mrs due to run the London marathon next week.

Hopefully we will never see this horrible disease again but it’s sad to see others go through it whilst at alder hey.

Anyway I thought I’d post this one up as I’ve had a celebration bevvy! 😉

Wonderful news. Although that seems a woefully inadequate thing to say. Raising a glass in your honour as i type.

You know this kind of thing keeps me going when I’m reading really really dry medical journals. Somewhere someone eventually benefits from the stuff I’m reading about.

That is fantastic news for you & the family, enjoy every moment from now on. Poor kid must have gone through the mill to get there 🙁

I lost my father @ 61 to bone cancer & last year I thought I was going to loose my mother to breast cancer but she’s a tough Yorkshire one and has come through it, words can’t express that feeling of a loved one beating that sort of illness. If only they could halt my wife’s MS.

Good news and I know what you mean about the experience being positive; my own son had a small accident skiing and compressed a vertebra. The ensuing hospital stay in France and getting him home was a good re-bonding experience for the family when, at the age of 14, he was beginning to be a bit “teenage”.
