MTB sells! Does this mean it’s the new sex?

I spotted this during the rugby yesterday. I wonder who the older rider is. Possibly a Kiwi- the earlier Lloyds horse ads were filmed in NZ.

According to her Instagram that’s Katy Kurd as a double in the final jump.

I featured, (definitely not starred) in a Barclaycard advert in 2018. For the princely sum of £125, (NO expenses!) I got to ride my bike up and down a field in Llangollen for 1/2 a day then a small road past a nice house after lunch.

The bloke who was an actual actor was awesome. He managed to look like he was enjoying riding his bike while the camera was on him, but appeared to be having a heart attack as soon as it cut. 🤣

Not on YouTube anymore,  I just checked.

Potentially dangerous, and brands try to convince you that you need loads of accessories and gadgets to do it properly? Yes, I think it might be

I saw an mtb image on the side of an aluminium company’s lorry last week, amongst other illustrations of the things you can make from their product.

I thought that the ad got someway to giving a feeling of what it’s like on a good day when you swoop down some single track and you just feel the flow! The sort of ride that adds to the width of your inner grin.
I don’t know if it makes mtb cool though.

My, Lassie has grown! Still, it’s good to know that he’s always there when a kid falls or gets injured.

What i took from that is you need a trail horse instead of trail dog

As @ampthill says it’s Katy C. She was the MTB advisor, and stunt double for the advert, and the section with the horses was actually done IRL not green screen (if that’s the tech) stuff.

As I said in my, now closed duplicate thread with a clearer title that would come up in a search, fantastic how you can get these opportunities by working hard and following your passion.

What pronoun will this one require?

My neighbour’s kid does some advertising and did a showreel for this – I was outside one day and her and her mum were going up and down the road in a bike filming proving she could ride it whilst watching and smiling to the side without crashing. She definitely wasn’t auditioning for the final scene.

    She’s not in it though.

Well, you get hot and bothered and end up covered in sticky wet stuff, so it could well be.

‘What’s that Lassie? Emma has missed a mortgage payment? Thanks, I’ll start the repossession process immediately!’

It’s a nice advert, but these ‘cuddly bank’ marketing campaigns always make me a bit queasy, given that IRL they’ll **** you over in a heartbeat if you fall on hard times.

I can’t stop laughing at that ad. The bombhole jump just has me in stitches; all the padding to make it look like a kid. It’s pure Beastie Boy’s Sabotage level stunt person.
Anyhow’s, I’m probably warped from Bill Hicks’ marketing & advertising bit.

    Nice bit of filming.

Bit of a John Lewis vibe? Story, music, no information about actual product.

The crash seems to be caused by dismounting the bike while in motion, carefully putting one leg under the rear wheel to make it bounce over it for dramatic effect. When the horse turns up, the bike has come back to the site of the crash.

Aw, cmon, shes only a little girl, there has to be some dramatic licence.

Director – “Cut! Sorry love, its still not convincing enough.  It really would look much better if you could break your collar bone for us. OK, ROLLING!”

They were filming some of this in and around Dorking in the Surrey Hills a couple of months ago.

The shot of the horses running alongside the posts at 5 seconds in, is the Cotmadene in Dorking town centre, with the slope just to the right of Box Hill in the background.

They also spent the afternoon filming in one of the bike shops in town, but it doesn’t seem to have made the advert.

Obviously the coastal scene at the end isn’t Surrey, but some of the riding clips may be.

My 6 year old daughter loves this advert, contains one of her favourite songs, she loves horses and is a dubbing mountain biker.

I hate to break this to you, but given the choice between a shiny new mountain bike or a pony at Christmas time, you’d be searching for hay suppliers on boxing day.

i hate the UK banks / stockmarkets reactions to an American bank collapsing
